Romney has right RX for McCain
Seattle Times ^ | August 3rd | Froma Harrop

We who obsess over universal health coverage may soon confront a startling development: The only candidate on a major-party presidential ticket to have proposed and implemented a universal plan could well be a Republican. I speak of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, now high on the list of John McCain's possible running mates.

Jindal’s my gov. and for awhile he looked weak when he insisted that he would not veto the legislature’s 100% pay raise. A few people filed recall petitions against him and some of the repubs in the legislature and he vetoed. He’ll be really seasoned if he can turn this state around.

Give Sandford a break on that one interview. He’s proven he’s willing to oppose his own party when they stand in the way of conservatism. He seems solid and would be better than any of the top tier choices we had this year.

Mitt already has done this.
McPain is the childish one.
He’s not mature enough as a person to do that.
His temper and pride get in the way.
McPain is not a prinsipled person.
McPain is just slightly less scary than the Obomination.
Either way, McPain or the Obomination will ruin this country.
McPain will taz us to death with his envrionmental religion and the Obimination will push “global warming” for global socialism.

This supports the following. Romney and his ilk cannot be trusted.

"Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries,
(Romney) lost Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and California.
The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states;
and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals
couldn't spare the cash to advertise.
Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."

Duncan Hunter is the man with the real integrity. This election isn't even going to be close if Obamination is the November name opposite moderate McCain. So, it is time to place a true conservative on the ticket and give him the four years of exposure which will vault him to president in 2012. Hey Juan, pick Duncan Hunter.

Maybe Boston will get a major healing card from GOD when Mitt moves on. Maybe you should ask Kennedy and Kerry if they will pick up the slack? Don’t be so obtuse.

“According to you, “Romney is absolutely pro-life.” Well, let’s look at that silly assertion. Do you consider it pro-life to offer embryonic aged humans for research as ‘leftover’ people? Romney does. So he’s not actually ‘absolutely pro-life now is he?”

I’m so tired of one issue Freepers who thinks the whole world thinks as one-dimensionally as they do, and parse every little word that has to do with their pro-life stance to suit their political needs. There are lots of issues out there in the world, and you continually seek the perfect in an imperfect world.

When you are looking for a well-rounded candidate who is right on most issues, then you have Romney, including that he is pro-life both in practice in his own family (chock full of children, including his 5 sons), and also since he became a pro-life advocate politically. I suppose you would have wished that he wouldn’t have evolved to his pro-life stance and remained pro-abortion? Then stop preaching to others how they should become pro-life if you don’t believe it never works to change their opinions. Bah, humbug.

Tired of the one-issue Freepers who knit pick constantly, looking for the one fatal flaw of any given conservative candidate if it doesn’t exactly fit your pro-life template. The good news is the tide has turned against you, and the majority of intelligent conservatives want Romney, even if he has the occasional wart, just like, I’m sure, you have too. Or are you perfect?

I suspect that Massachusetts’ problems stem from decades of liberalism and not Romney.

Incomprehensible. You must be a Romney supporter.

Exactly right. I just hope that those conservatives surrounding McCain as advisors can keep him under control.

I’m a devout Christian and I’d take Romney all day long.

I find it SO hypocritical that anyone that calls themselves a Christian finds McCain acceptable, who was/is openly hostile to the Christian right and won’t talk about faith at all but they’ll lambaste a man that publicly claims Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior.

Myth Romney --- so void of basis --
that whe he hypocritically had illegal alien cleaning his Belmont mansion,
Myth snuck out and attempted to steal an issue
from Duncan Hunter, taking credit for Duncan Hunter's fence without attribution.

Myth Romney taking credit for Duncan Hunter's fence, in Romney's flier (without attribution).

Gee, I thought you knew how to read ... I posted his last name also. And he’s an actual conservative, not a mock one who needs an army of deceitful sycophants playing ‘you’re a bigot’ games to try and squelch exposure of Romney’s liberal past.

Change your dream of being an investigator.
When traitors to Americans, to conservatives and to the GOP,
are exposed, there is Myth Romney, front and center, laughing away.

Mitt came in second only to McCain in delegate count in the primaries, in case you didn’t notice, but then, you want to minimize that little fact, don’t you. The good news is that what you say is in the now very tiny minority of Freepers who are on to your johnny-one-note hate Mitt rap. So, sputter forth, only the uninformed are listening to you, and considering the intelligence of most Freepers, on these threads there are very few. McCain will choose Romney, unless he is a fool, which, given McCain is always a possibility.
