Just spoke to her staff..she is still there on the house floor:)
I just called and said "There's a Republican revolt going on int the House Chamber and I wasn't seeing much coverage of it." I got a run around on it. Was told several times "There are no cameras on now. Cameras are not allowed." I objected, politely, that the story could still be covered.
He seemed mildly irritated that I would question that and asked if I wanted to talk to (name garbled) and I said yes. Got a phone tree that led to leaving a recorded message. I did...
"There's a Republican revolt going on in the House Chamber. I understand that the cameras are turned off. You can still cover the story. Thank you."
Same here...called Zack Wamp’s office to find out if he’s on the job and sure enough he is! I told his aid how much I appreciated this stand.
Called Cong. Turner’s office and he is on the floor now! I told his staff thank you, and said I’d contribute to his next campaign!
That makes two of us. : )
Done!
Update - A GOP staffer just informed me that post-adjournment protests by the minority party are not unprecedented. The Democrats did it back in 1995, when the Republicans were in control. Democrats placed a big photo of then-Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) wearing a diaper in the Speaker’s chair. Republicans note they are being more respectful this time.
Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas), who was on a place headed home, headed back to the Capitol, walking onto the floor dragging his luggage. He got a standing ovation.
Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) called it a “new Boston Tea Party!”
Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) said he was “not leaving until we call this Congress back into session and vote for energy independence.”
Rep. Tom Cole (Okla.), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said the dimly lit chamber is a “vision of the future by the Democrat Party - the lights are out, there’s no power, and the air conditioning is gonna go off soon.”
“yep, typos and all!”
And freepers to busy with the news to post “Spell check is your friend.” LOL
Done!
I feel for the little girl but isn’t that what (all) Greta Van Sustern is for?
I just called both numbers and expressed my gratitude that they were staying with this thing.
My husband is military and commutes about 30 minutes to and from work every day. We will not be able to pay off our whole fuel bill this month. I relayed this to both offices.
Thank you! Now say it on the air! I’m sucha Leo! ;-)
There is NO excuse for not covering this live, NONE.
= = =
MUCH AGREE.

Pence surely has a way with words ;)
What a feeling that must be. I hope someone from Iowa is there.
Looks like we all have good reason to be proud today!
Let’s send them some money TODAY!!

I’d be very surprised if she can interfere with a sitting Representative on the House floor, whether the House is in session or not. That is arguably an impeachable offense.
Just called foxnews breaking news desk. Said they have cameras there now.
Let them know that we are pushing the media to get their cameras there to cover it, and let them know we are following this with a Live Thread on Free Republic and posting reps' Twitter.com pages as we learn of them.
We are the media bypass, for now...
