Let It be Romney, Please!
Human Events ^ | July 30, 2008 | Bay Buchanan

John McCain has five weeks to choose his Vice Presidential running mate. Typically the most a presidential candidate can hope for is a partner who does him no harm. That criteria having been met, the choice is only important if the race is close; landslides aren’t caused or prevented by vice presidential candidates.

So the question for John McCain is who, if anyone can significantly influence Americans to vote Republican in November. The answer is Mitt Romney -- and for many more reasons than that he can deliver Michigan’s 17 electoral votes to the Republican column for the first time since 1988.

Just don't make it Tom Ridge. I can't believe it's being reported that he's on the VP short list. Can you imagine a McCain-Ridge ticket? If nothing else, just imagine the visuals of those two side by side. Snooooze.

Of course, Dick Morris is sure it will be Ridge. But Morris is wrong as often as he's right.

Conspiracy theories are not based on fact. The I proof right in the link. I know facts are an anathma to Mitt supporters but that doesn’t negate them...

I didn’t shill for anybody. But I recognized Fred for a loser candidate pretty quick. Sure enough, by Super Tuesday, he was dead Fred. Like anyone could tell the difference. Fred helped McCain win.

For some reason that I can’t quite fathom ... millions of Republican voters ... just can’t stand Romney. Is it his flexible stance on abortion maybe?

Speaking for myself, it's his flexible stance on intrusive use of government mandate in social and "free market" engineering (an oxymoron) of industries such as health care, energy, and manufacturing (global warming!). Republicans I vote for advocate and battle for going in the opposite direction of things like RomneyCare and "responsible" environmental cave-ins to power grabs of free market productivity.

Yes -- the opposite direction of using of government to force social acceptance of open homosexuals by prohibiting individuals' rights to discriminate against it in free choice. The opposite of using Federal government to legitimize aboriton instead of advocating that it return to the States where it belongs, and where it was before Roe V. Wade. His "flexible stance" on abortion is a result, not a cause.

Time to reboot your fathometer.

The problem with Mitt is that the Reagan Democrats
(read, white blue-collar men) don’t trust him. He therefore brings more problems than he fixes.

From what I have seen and heard, the Mormons do not believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. By some of their very beliefs, even they would likely admit to that.

“Being a Christian is how you live your life, not how you interpret the Bible.”

Really? I thought repenting of your sins and accepting Jesus as God and the Son had more to do with it than anything else. Oh well, live and learn.

Why should he get credit as a possible VP candidate for his faith and his marriage? How many faithful and married members on the Hill fall into the same category?

Gee, let’s vote for Obama.

He says he’s a Christian. He’s been faithful to his wife. He’s served in the Senate. He has been successful in attaining his goals. He has called for the strengthening of African-American families. He is a strong advocate for change in America. He slew the dragon, Hillary. He will soar to even greater heights after he is crowned at the Democratic National Convention.

His hair and suits are always tidy.

He’s AWESOME.

You going to vote for him, now?

"He’s AWESOME."

That is a matter of opinion. And I am sure not the opinion of the majority on this board.

Like allergy to truth, and diarrhea of the mouth against posters,
it is a side-effect accompanying a few of the utter-believers of the Myth.

Would nice to have a president who is not an adulterer and has no personal scandals and who would promote family values and set an example.

Err... have you forgotten about George W. Bush's family? You make is sound like America is just beginning its recovery from the Clinton years! We've had eight years of Christian family battles.
