Obama getting bounce according to both Gallup and Rasmussen
Gallup, Rasmussen ^

Posted on 07/26/2008 8:26:13 AM PDT by bumblethebee

Gallup now has Obama ahead 47-41 and Rasmussen has Obama leading by a 46-40 percent margin. Media bias is certainly a factor but McCain is running a campaign as thrilling as watching paint dry.

Gee, I didn’t know McCain was even campaigning. I was even wondering when he would start.

The real polls are the internals that both campaigns pay good money to get by having their own pollsters. Obama’s
internals are saying he lost ground. Mccain’s show
a pattern of movement toward McCain. That is why Obama went
on the world tour and why they are sying things today at his
campaign that they believe Obama will take a dip next week.

If Gallop and Rasmussen was so good the canidates would use them instead of paying for internal pollsters.

Things can change... we still have to wait til fall to see how things shake down. You can bet the Left will do all it can to try make sure the election doesn't become a referendum on Obama.

I think that the media will do polls to show the results they want. They are not going to show favorable to McCain. That defeats their purpose. We can only get “honest” polls from “independent” polling services, if there is such a thing. They will seek to turn off everyone that might be thinking of voting for McCain. I never ever trust polls.

Keep in mind that pollsters generally only poll folks on land lines. People with land lines are generally old-school, baby boomer types, not 18-35 in age. So if Obama is ahead this much with old folks, then that’s kind of scary.

Actually pollsters use random generated numbers and don't know if they are land line or celluar. Even land line numbers have caller id, except for the poorest people, so basically yoour point is moot, except in trying to induce panic.

I was in my company’s break room the other day. Obama was on the TV giving his Berlin speech. One guy said he gets goose bumps just hearing Obama speak. I said, “Just imagine how exciting it would be if he actually said something of substance!”

WRONG! McCain has the super strength of the scariest, furthest to the left, emptiest suit ever running, , i.e. Obama, powering him.

Historically, young people vote at very low rates.

If they get excited enough about Obama, that could change this year.

These wouldn’t be switch voters, they would be new voters entering the system. A relatively small number could make a huge difference.

Yep. The media will report the election as close to the very end. They will never mention a McCain lead. Or if there is one, they will bury it on the back pages. The MSM is in the tank big time for Obama and they will do everything they can to get him elected President.

His Holiness's European spectacle should have produced more than a paltry 6 points. I think the pollsters are risking hernias trying to make the numbers work.

I agree with you, except for one fact. When you compare now to the summer in 2004, you will see that Obama's lead over McCain has been remarkably steady. There has been no change in lead for the past 2 months. That is not how it was in 2004. Bush and Kerry swapped the lead several times over the summer. On the other hand, McCain has yet to take the lead in any national poll since the end of May. That is what worries me. When he starts pulling ahead, I will be more re-assured.

Even a small Obama lead is enough for the MSM to trumpet. The subliminal message to Republicans: our guy is gonna win and you might just well give it up!

McCain needs to fake a heart attack, step aside, and let someone with some vigor and vitality take on Obama.

Well, whoever arranged for McCain’s bleak grocery store trip and the sad sausage fest to compete with Obama’s speech to throngs in Germany needs a swift kick in the pants.

If you think its gonna remain that way through the fall, that's exactly what the MSM is counting on. They're doing everything they can to portray the Obamessiah as "inevitable." And all of the coverage and polling is meant to convince the American people to pull the lever for him.

The thing about that is when a shakey structure is overly propped up, it’s collapse is sudden and complete.

I have been trying to tell people the same thing for the past month. But they usuallu have one of two canned responses, both of which are faulty in their logic:

1) Dukakis lead by 17 - this is irrelevant because too much has changed, there were different factors (popularity of Reagan vs Bush, presence of Atwater, etc.) so as to render this comparison meaningless.

2) It is only summer - except for the fact that McCain has yet to lead in any national poll since the end of May. This is not how it was in 2000 or 2004. It is extremely worrisome that Obama's lead has continued unchallanged for over 2 months.
