Obama getting bounce according to both Gallup and Rasmussen
Gallup, Rasmussen ^

Posted on 07/26/2008 8:26:13 AM PDT by bumblethebee

Gallup now has Obama ahead 47-41 and Rasmussen has Obama leading by a 46-40 percent margin. Media bias is certainly a factor but McCain is running a campaign as thrilling as watching paint dry.

Obama should be up by double digits with all the fawning MSM coverage, and then there are state polls showing that Obama is losing steam, but that will not stop the chicken littles from saying the sky is falling.

McCain had the right idea when he scheduled a visit to an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico.

He should schedule another oil rig visit, or perhaps head to ANWR in Alaska for some fact finding.

Something energy focused.

One cannot fairly compare 1996 to 2008. Clinton was the incumbent that year, during a fairly robust economy and low gas prices. There is no incumbent this year.

When you see stuff like this just ask yourself where barack mcgovern’s votes will come from? Ask hard questions. algore and frenchie had no problems with Jews and lost. Neither had trouble with women and lost. Neither had trouble with Hispanics and lost. Neither was even slightly appealing to White males. Does anyone older than 6 think barack mcgovern will even come close to the 22% of White males frenchie got?
algore won Catholics 50/47. frenchie had trouble with Catholics and lost with catholics 52/46. barack mcgovern has major trouble with catholics and in fact has quietly closed down is Catholic outreach because it was loaded with baby killers. B-mac is in favor of letting miracle abortion survivors die of starvation and dehydration in a slow and painful way. He won't do 40 with Catholics.
21 million people are veterans. McCain is winning them 56/37 and the 37 is questionable.
Where will his votes come from, the clearisil commandos? The ones that elected president algore and frenchie? Please!!

I wouldn’t matter if McCain were running a brilliant campaign. What the media is saying now is that while The Annointed Obama is making nice around the world, getting the furreners to love US again like they did before GW ruined the world, that nasty little McCain is trashing BHO like some yappy dog biting at His ankles. Content is irrelevant.

Yup, it’s the states that matter. Polls earlier in the week showed the Obamanation falling behind in Ohio. If that holds, he’s done.

The media must be wetting their pants with delight.

True, but Obama isn’t way ahead.

The other point is that almost all the polls right down to the very last day or two showed Clinton up by about 8% more than he actually won by.

Keep in mind that pollsters generally only poll folks on land lines. People with land lines are generally old-school, baby boomer types, not 18-35 in age. So if Obama is ahead this much with old folks, then that’s kind of scary.

Since I think Rasmussen is a 3 day average, it would be interesting to see if the numbers were up pre or post Berlin speech.

The last Democrat, Kerry, had a 15 point lead. So by historical standards, Obama is underperforming.

Let's not forget that MSM polls generally understate Republican strength. So if we factor in corrections, the race is still tied! The overseas tour didn't change the political map all that much. Its nothing for the MSM to crow about.

Dukakis was up 17 right about now and was trounced.

Yes, but the old man then had Atwater. We don't have Atwater any more.

Dukakis was up 17 right about now and was trounced.

Unfortunately this was the same faulty logic that led to cheers here in the summer of 2006 when the Democrats were "only" up a few points, when given the dire circumstances and Republican mistakes, they "should have" been up more. The trouble is, they held on to that slim lead all summer and fall and reclaimed Congress. We need a strategy to take back the lead, not smugness that it is a small lead for the opponent.

Another good point. Most of the polls had WJC over 50% as well, and he finished just under it.

The bottom line is that this election has a long way to go. Those who can't follow the polls without getting worked up (for better or worse), probably need to find another hobby.

The media is going to hype Obama so much...that when the ballots are all cast and McCain wins...the libcom’s will cry foul! How could their candidate lose when the media is telling them he’s ahead...I mean the media is already acting like Obama is the winner.

And really, every presidential election from here on out will be in doubt. If a Republican wins, the left will be hurling lawsuits right and left to have the ballots recast in their favor...because they can. If a Demonrat wins, the left will be hurling lawsuits to supress any recounts...because they can.
