Sad that she put her children in that predicament. Pretty pathetic mother.

If ONLY the whole family had stayed in the same country as where their documents are located. When will they ever learn: STAY WITH YOUR DOCUMENTS!!

Don’t care what she was doing wrong or what her status is. There’s no excuse for leaving kids like that with some stranger. Generally, when someone is arrested and there isn’t a family member there, don’t they put the kids into foster care or protective custody of some sort? Anyone with any common decency - ‘protocol’ or not, would have made sure the kids were safe.

Lessons for Mom:
(1) don’t live in countries where you are not a legal resident or citizen, especially with your 3 children
(2) don’t give rides to strangers with your children in the car - especially the kind of stranger who would abandon your children when you are arrested for your illegal activities
(3) don’t operate a motor vehicle without a valid license
I’m sure there are plenty more, but that’s a start.....

Another reason for crimmigrants to learn English. If you get arrested, you can tell the police that you don't know the guy (with you in the car you are driving illegally) that your children are being left with.
No sympathy here.

If this guy was a "church acquaintance", it doesn't sound like he pays attention to what the minister says.
His name wouldn't happen to be Baraq Obama, would it?

The cops didn’t leave the kids in the car, the guy who they assumed was the father abandoned the kids.

Mom was wrong; the cops were wrong. None of the adults in this story behaved reasonably or responsibly. I’m glad the kids are okay

Deputies arrested her for driving without a license, leaving her three children, ages 14, 10 and 6, alone in the car with a man they barely knew, the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer reported Wednesday.Boo flipping hoo!
If the cops questioned her immigration status, her "rights" are violated.
I don't care what any law says. Illegal aliens dont have citizenship rights and protections, and I continue to believe that it's what the founders intended.
If they questioned her marital status, it would be infinitely worse.
The only remaining option is to assume the male is their father, unless told otherwise.
Of course, it could be their father, but illegal aliens never lie...
I'm gonna go sort my socks now.

To all: It is an easy thing to forget that this is a very hard issue that is breaking up many families and is truly heartbreaking. 99% of these people are just like you and me, hard working, family focused and just want a better life for their families. These people are just like our forefathers and parents that all came from other places so that our lives would be better and sacrificed all they knew and came with nothing for the benefit of generations they would never meet (You and me today). Yes, it appears that she came illegally, but she is also a real person, with real young children. The solution to the immigration problem has to be better than breaking up a family who has only broken a traffic law while here. I don't have the solution. But taking a hardline against people who haven't harmed anyone seems to me fundamentally unfair and frankly un-american. Hell...we give more rights to real criminals who rape, murder and steal. I ask you....IS THIS RIGHT?....

Sheriff's Department officials said they handled Ventura's arrest according to their policies. Policies! Brains? And these idiots carry guns and drive at high speeds? Jakes with no regard for the rest of their profession!

Lawyers for Maria Chavira Ventura say she was stopped June 14 for a traffic violation along Interstate 85 in Alamance County, N.C. Deputies arrested her for driving without a license, leaving her three children, ages 14, 10 and 6, alone in the car with a man they barely knew, the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer reported Wednesday.Who put the "man they barely knew" in the car with her kids in the first place?
Their mom.
So why is it the cops' fault that they left the kids with this adult?
Bogus complaint. Stop whining, mom. Take your kids back to the country you legally live in, and if you want to come back to the US, do it the legal way.
