I tried! Somebody broke the net. Maybe Dolly.
I used to always watch the old races and then our cable company scratched Classic for some asinine reason.

Tony has been an unhappy camper since JGR switch to Toyotas. One could see in Tony's eyes that he was very unhappy!
Tony doesn't care that much - remember, JGR has switched before while Tony was driving for them.
Nope, Tony has been wanting to own or co-own a team for several years now, ever since he started buying tracks and putting together teams for other series. He's been very vocal about it, but nobody took him seriously.
This was a deal that Tony could literally not turn down - he isn't having to pay any money to get ownership - he just has to show up.

The Kingdom strikes back. Toyotas in the Nationwide series will run Restrictor Plates
You want to know the real story? Just read between the lines:
Joe Gibbs Racing, particularly, has enjoyed the most success with 13 wins coming from four different drivers, including nine with its No. 20 team.
As early as March, owners in the series, including Jack Roush and Kevin Harvick, were raising the warning flag of a distinct horsepower advantage by Toyota engines in all three series.
It wasn't the Toyota teams as a whole doing well.
It was Joe Gibbs Racing that was doing so well and Jack Roush was not happy. The fact is, if JGR had been running Chevy and had been dominating, Jack Roush still would have been bitching up a storm, because that's what he does.
It's pretty pathetic that NASCAR has been reduced to trying to cripple a manufacturer rather than tell the other teams "suck it up and get your act together boys". Toyota teams that are not JGR are going to suffer big time.
NASCAR has tried in the past to make the field all the same, but they've never been this blatant nor this ham-fisted. The COT plays right into that (and I'm surprised they haven't forced it down the throat of the Nationwide teams).
Just imagine if NASCAR had tried to cripple all of the Fords like this because Bill Elliott was winning too much. (You could argue that they tried to cripple Elliott by tearing down his car after every race ;-) )

I agree with you however I would hate to see the CUP series end up like the Truck series with the Toys dominating. I knew when Toyota announced their initial investment in the Cup program was $100,000,000 that it was headed this way. We don't see Honda in Nascar because they fear defeat by Toyota.
I still smart at Jack's hair brained challenge of team J. Gordon for "Sticky Tires" a few years ago...

Yeah, Jack lives to complain about everybody else. I have a little sympathy for Jack - it must really irritate the hell out of him that as Toyota is getting serious in NASCAR, Ford has been quietly backing out.

Thanks for the ping, Norm, I’ve been away for a while, glad to know I wasn’t dropped. Did anyone see the story out of Kanapolis on the That’s Racin’ website?

Yep. It’s difficult to believe that Oprah is The Mysterious Person To Be Impressed By Dissing Our Local Hero.If nothing else she has a keen sense of P.R.. My thought: If her radar picks this up, I doubt she would show, which would serve that Boss Hogg wanna-be-guy right.

Earnhardt’s hometown removes his honor flags From Charlotte Observer, wire reports Friday, Jul. 25, 2008 KANNAPOLIS - The late Dale Earnhardt’s hometown is taking down banners honoring the NASCAR great, at the request of a billionaire developer who is bringing a client to town Saturday. The Salisbury Post also reported on Friday that the developer’s company doesn’t want the “Dale Trail” banners going up again. According to e-mails obtained by the Salisbury newspaper, California billionaire David Murdock is coming to Kannapolis on Saturday with an important guest and wants to put the “best face on the city.” Murdock’s company, Castle...

Not only a jerk, but totally tone-deaf as to a community I guess he is looking to do business with, or to. When I first read this story, I checked twice to see if it was satire. It’s like the plot to a Disney movie.
