Join us this weekend for some racing on hallowed ground.
God bless our troops, families and this nation under God.
This thread is dedicated to the men and women in our country's armed forces defending our freedoms.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Heh. Nope. We didn’t see her. We were mostly hanging out at my wife’s cousin’s trailer, or walking back and forth to the stands. The next day, he made it to the Funny Car final, but lost. Still, not a bad day.
I agree. This is getting out of hand. I refuse to buy Coke-Zero just because of the former Firecracker 400. What's next the Daytona 500 under some product name?
I'm a Tony Stewart fan. I'd like to see him win this race so we can just move on with the rest of the season. I heard the #14 for his car next year? The Silly season continues.
But he still drives a yota! *blech*
Johnny Benson in a good Chevy would be perfect.
An interesting poll this week at http://www.nascar.com/index.html
"Which event produces the better product in terms of racing?"
Cup Series at Indianapolis (12642)......... 60%
Craftsman Truck Series at ORP (5612)... 27%
N'wide (Bush) Series at ORP (2643)...... 13%
I wonder if a poll would change much if all three series were at the same track, say Atlanta, Bristol or ?
The boy made me watch the last half of Ricky bobby and T-Nights last night........
I still don't feel right this morning...........
Tony Stewart will drive the No. 14 Chevrolet in his debut next season with his own Sprint Cup Series team, Stewart-Haas Racing, and will share sponsorship from Office Depot and Old Spice, the Observer has learned.
A formal announcement of Stewart's car number and sponsorship plans will be made this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, multiple sources said Monday.
There has been a lot of speculation Stewart could announce his new teammate for next season this weekend but sources said Stewart-Haas Racing would have no announcement about teammates at Indianapolis.
The leading candidate for the second SHR ride is Ryan Newman, who announced last week he was leaving Penske Racing at the end of this season.
However, while he may end up with Stewart's team, Newman is still considering other offers, sources said, including a late offer from a fellow Dodge organization, Gillett Evernham Motorsports.
See post 32, cleverly disguised as a slam against my birth state...
‘Bought time! And the cup cars?????
Thanks for the ping Norm!
I’ll be in and out of touch as I haul my arse down to Texas during the next few days.
ST...hope y’all arent get’n beat down by the huricane!
We’re good. A little rain, a few breezes, a tornado or two or 10, no problems.
Be carefull, there’s bad weather up your way too.
Wow....the names.
Strange to hear them talk about the Hoosier tires......
Are you doing “play by play”? I’m still at work.
Get back to work and quit slackin' off on the computer!
lol
The names really get me........
Harry Gant (said this was his last spring race at Bristol)...Lake Speed.....Rick Mast....Hut Strickland.
Mikey Waltrip driving the #30 Pennsoil car, Morgan Sheppard driving for the Wood Brothers.....Bill Elliot driving the #11 Bud car....
Ned Jarrett and BP in the booth.......
Lake Speed in 3rd....Big E leading....30 to go.....
They need to have more of these on.........too cool......
Harry Gant, Mr. October.
Wish I could watch it...
Back in the day, for sure.....racing back to the line when a yeller comes out (yea, that change was not too long ago..)....working on the car during a red flag.....
Dale Jarrett (driving the #18 car) spun out on lap 30~, had help.....I was still pissed! lol
Could not get over the names....whole bunch not around any more....whole bunch that we still hear every Sunday. 1994 - that was a long time ago, the year before I retired from the USAF....the year my boy was hatched......just wow......
A very young Flash found his way into the wall - hard. Ricky Rudd hit the inside wall at pretty much full speed - the front of the car was gone, darn near to the windshield - gone! I wonder if that was the wreck that the next week's race he taped his black and blue eye's open so he could see....? They reported he was ok but he never did come out of the infield hospital or get interviewed.
Big E started in the 27th position...and won. The after-race interview......goose bumps.
14 years ago - lots of things have changed, yet some things are still the same. Just cool to watch.
I'm going to have to start watching the Classic channel more often, record Nascar races!, but after the race was a baseball game....1995....when Cal Ripken passed Lou Gehrig's Iron Man record - 2131 games in a row.
I'm not the world's biggest BB fan but that was just flat out amazing - 20 minute standing-O for Ripken. He hit a homer in the two games prior - and hit another that night - and the crowd went ballistic. The stuff legends are made of......great to watch.
Should have been at work but baby sitting a sick young one, darn the bad luck! :)
I'm ready....for Bristol, baby!
I want MORE!
If he wasn't at work we wouldn't hear from him. I listened to more of RUSH at work than I do now that I'm retired...
I hear ya.
Rush is on at work via streaming audio (and complaints from people! Silly 'Rats....just cuz I'm a network guru does not mean that I know why you can't get to the Internet or get email - and everyone else can. Could take days to figure out.....).....Rush is on the vehicle on AM radio....
Now here is the kicker....I've got a $1300 radio here at the house that, more times than not, is tuned to the low band to get AM transmissions - Rush.
Not givin' ST any grief, just messin' with him.
LOL!
