I think we all knew this...

Sorta like not reporting the name Mohammed or that a corrupt pol is a D.

It’s like the old Soviet Union where what’s not said in the press is more important than what is.

I’d provide a source but my other thread got pulled, we cannot post the AP stories. Though Drudge seems to be able too? But ya, go figure, now the press will try to make excuses for our Mexican friends who have no vaccinations, go to the bathrooms in the fields and have no hand washing facilities ....

what the FDA doesn't want you to know.

Actually, it's the FDA reporting the possibility that Mexican jalapenos may be responsible. It's been on the news all day. Where you been?

Isn’t that the truth. Nevermind hundreds if not thousands of our fellow citizens got sick because our government played footsie with this.

Trade! The almighty god of our leaders. What do a few citizens matter when there’s a buck to be made by big contributors?

Oh, well, I’ve been around? This just ticks me off. Why do we import food from China and Mexico? Do we long to die or what?

So in your mind should we not trade with any countries for food? I’m sure that would do wonders for our economy.

Exactly, they could have banned Mexican produce, like Hello? But instead we search old ladies in airports rather than than target the usual suspects (bad analogy?)

Yes. That is exactly my though, since when does America need to import food? Give me a break.

Wild boars? The 2006 outbreak of E. coli in spinach, for example, was caused by such animals getting into the fields.

It's called comparative advantage. You know, basic economic stuff and all. Let us focus on what we do best, trade with countries that have a comparative advantage in other things, with every country involved being better off. If we grew all of our food ourselves, it would necessarily divert resources from other areas, leading to a decrease in overall supply and a steep rise in prices.

You are also aware that the UK has had to import most of its food for well over one hundred years, yet they're doing just fine

We used to grow a sizable crop of cold weather crops here in Michigan but they’ve all been altered to grow in the southwest closer to the cheap labor.
