The N-word and why black power could keep Obama out of the White House
dailymail.co.uk ^ | July 18, 2008 | Philip Delves Broughton

Posted on 07/19/2008 5:18:28 PM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

From the moment Barack Obama appeared on America's national political stage, he was always going to be a controversial figure.

A half-white, half-black man with the poise and rhetorical flights of a Kennedy. A Harvard graduate abandoned by his Kenyan father to be raised by a single white mother. A man with the middle name Hussein running for the White House in post-9/11 America.

Yet, what few could have imagined was the degree of animus he would stir within America's own black community - and, in particular, its African-American leaders.

This week, it was revealed that the Rev. Jesse Jackson, for decades the dominant voice in black politics, had made an off-the-cuff remark into a TV microphone he thought was turned off that Obama was 'talking down to black people - telling n*****s how to behave'.

Jackson's remarks were prompted by a speech the Democrat Presidential candidate had made to a black church in which he dared to criticise young blacks for not completing school and being poor fathers.

'Too many fathers are Missing In Action. Too many blacks are AWOL, missing from too many lives and too many homes. They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it,' Obama had said.

Jackson, a former Democrat Presidential candidate himself, has suddenly detonated the race issue which has stalked Obama's every step towards the White House. His use of the explosive N-word - commonplace among young blacks in rap music and entertainment - is extraordinary in a political context, and sent America's liberal commentators into paroxysms.

News bulletins carried warnings that viewers were about to hear a dreadful racial epithet.

Had any white public (or even private) figure used the N-word, they would have been destroyed overnight.

interesting.....Lamb seems credible to me

there is something I would like to clear up about my comments here. I first introduced the Kenneth Lamb article to the long-running thread on the obama birth certificate thread:

Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claims (Uh-oh).LINK.

as a result of the questions raised as to what motives may have led to the document shown as a CoLB being tampered with, if in fact it was.

My hypotheses was simply that there was something on the original document that would have been harmful to the obama campaign. Kenneth Lamb's research pointed to an obvious major problem, if what he writes is correct.

The speculation on my part, that Obama Snr, with hubris, (he had a very high opinion of himself) may have completed the registration of birth application by describing himself as African-Arab, or Arab-African, something that was possibly a political statement in 1960 and would not have raised any eyebrows then, would be a disaster for a candidate who is running on a carefully constructed mythos of being the first African-American candidate.

It's a long stretch, but I still believe it's possible the word ARAB was removed from the document - and that's why his father's race is shown only as AFRICAN. 'African' is not a Race - and would hardly have been accepted as such by the Hawaii Health Department.

I have also, in a number of posts here, shown that the words AFRICAN-ARAB OR ARAB-AFRICAN are and were in common use.

Yes, and I met an Afro Arab from the Sudan, and know what they look like.

Barry Obama Sr. was a Luo, however, not an Afro-Arab.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tippu_Tib

His mother, Bint Habib bin Bushir, was a Muscat Arab of the ruling class. His father and paternal grandfather were coastal Swahili who had taken part in the earliest trading expeditions to the interior. His paternal great-grandmother, wife of Rajab bin Mohammed bin Said el Murgebi was the daughter of Juma bin Mohammed el Nebhani, a member of a respected Muscat (Oman) family, and an African woman from the village of Mbwa Maji, a small village south of the then German capital of Dar es Salaam.

Slave and ivory trade (excerpt)

By 1820, at a time when the west coast slave trade was being closed down by European powers, the trade in Zanzibar was still growing. The Nyamwesi had pushed even further west, into the kingdoms of Katanga, Lunda, and Kazembe in modern Zambia and Zaire.

The most famous of the Zanzibar traders was Tippu Tib, a respected Swahili and close confidante of Sultan Majid bin Said. It was he who was largely responsible for the extension of the Sultan’s sphere of influence. Whilst the Sultan managed affairs in Zanzibar, ensuring its security and defending Arab interests from especially British interference, Tippu Tib created a vast empire. Ultimately Said’s African dominions covered a staggering two million square kilometres and it was famously said that “when the flute plays in Zanzibar, the whole of Africa dances”. Many of the native tribes that had been in league with the Arabs for centuries were by now well-armed and Said considered his hold on the continent and the trade to be impregnable...

Tippu Tib, Arab-African or African Arab? Depends on who is writing the story - compare above.

Did he speak Classical Arabic or a more modern version?

There are millions of people who read, write and (if pushed) speak Classical Arabic so that they can read and study the Koran.

Speaking modern Arabic as your first language is the sort of thing that would define you as an Arab.

On the other hand, being a member of the Luo tribe definitely defines you as a Luo.

As in America there are mixed race people.

BTW, Arabs are, of course, "white folks" in case you didn't catch the references.

“it would be nice to see blacks reject Obama as an imposter not good for them but they cannot resist the siren call of what they percieve as racial commonality

in my opinion.”

That’s not going to happen. Obama’s father was from Kenya, a member of the Luo tribe. Kenya is an archetypal African nation. Obama’s mother was from Kansas and she lived and died in Hawaii. That makes Obama a true “African-American.”
Also, there is no way that the black vote alone will elect Obama to anything. He will need millions of white votes, Latino votes, Asian votes, American Indian votes as well as black votes and so will Senator McCain.
John Kerry got 88% of the black vote and George W. Bush got 11%.

McCain will need like neraly every other candiate of late....

a majority of the white male vote

a majority of the white women with children vote

all the Southern states

most Mountain states

Ohio or Penn

etc

Obama has susbstantial white youth support but the over 30 leftists seem less entusiastic

here in Nashville I see less Obama than I ever did Gore or Kerry

fewer McCain too though

Depends if Arabic was his native language or not. I don’t think so, so he’s a black African with some Arab (Omani) blood.

Agreed. My point is that AFAIK there is no federal regulation stating how much “blood” you have to have to qualify as a particular ethnicity.

I do know that for Indian tribes the Feds dodge the issue entirely by leaving tribal membership qualifications entirely up to each tribe. They apply a wide variety of standards, and in many of the tribes a LOT of the members are less than 1/8th blood.

I just applied at FAFSA for my daughter’s college and at scholarship and AID sources

being a minority, certain ethnics, pregnant unmarried, poor, disabled etc is more important to access the money and placement than grades or test scores

it’s really absurd.

...so he’s a black African with some Arab (Omani) blood.

"There were many tribes or societies in Africa which were exclusively Mulatto (to use the term loosely). Nothing was more characteristic of the mixed breed clans, tribes and societies than their unceasing efforts to emphasise their separate identity, and their constant fear of being considered "Negroes," or Black Africans. Hence their over-anxious crusades of jihads against black states and their spear-heading of most of the slave raids in Africa. They further emphasised their "ethnic difference" by always retaining thousands of black slaves in their own service, while selling the others .... The most murderous of the Mulatto slave traders was Tippu Tib, with his slave empire headquarters on Zanzibar. His slave trails extended in every direction from the East Coast far into the interior where white slave traders feared to go."

SOURCE.

Please do me a favour and read:

COMMENT 101.

All I am attempting to establish is, could it be possible obama snr described himself as African-Arab or Arab-African on the birth certificate application when he registered the birth of obama jnr.

I am using Tippu Tib as an example only. His features are as much negroid as obama snr, although his ancestry is mostly arab.

I actually don’t have a huge problem with that when private money is used, although I think it’s pretty stupid.

But taxpayer money should not be used to advantage members opf one group over another.

If Tippu Tib was born in black Africa & did not speak a dialect of Arabic, he is not considered an Arab by Arabs, although his Omani blood would be acknowledged. He can call himself an Arab, 'arab al-musta'arab, mulatto, or whatever he wants - but he would not fit the accepted definition of Arab to an Arab. Many black Africans, probably including Tippu Tib, take pleasure in reminding everyone of their Arab, white, etc. blood to differentiate themselves from the other blacks because of the stigma attached to being black.

On the other hand, there are many blacks in Arabia that are considered fully Arabs. For example, singer Rashed al-Fares is black, but is a Saudi citizen & speaks Arabic as his native language. He's considered black, but also as Arab as anyone else.

As for Obama's father, I don't know what he called himself or put on his papers. No one calling themselves a Luo would be considered any kind of Arab, though.
