His service to his nation is extremely laudable.

His imprisonment in Viet Nam is not enough of a reason for him to be President.

I have heard the same things about John McCain from Paul Galanti.

McCain can accurately be called a lot of things."Completely out of his mind" for one.I'm fully prepared to assume that McCain was completely sane on the day before he entered the Hanoi Hilton and it was there that he lost his marbles.

But one thing you *cannot* reasonably call McCain (assuming you have any sense of honor) is a coward.

McCain is a war hero.

I don't like the idea of him as President.

I hate the thought of a socialist traitor/democrat like Ubama even worse.

Wish McCain didn't make it such a tough choice.

I'll probably vote for him all the same. At least the chance of salvaging the Republic will be greater.

Comparing McCain to Reagan and Churchill is a bit over the top, IMO...

Bill Clinton Warns Nation of Danger of Electing a Former POW President

Former President Bill Clinton (D) warned voters against electing former prisoner-of-war Senator McCain president. “POWs are not like us,” Clinton observed. “They’ve been held captive in barbaric conditions, tortured and humiliated by this country’s enemies. How can they ever be objective enough to deal with our country’s enemies as president?”

Clinton argued that his evasion of military service saved him “from building up the prejudices against and hatreds for different cultures and political systems that could have compromised my ability to govern effectively. My judgment was untainted by any suffering and privation that could have biased my views. The same can’t be said for Senator McCain.”

Senator McCain called Clinton’s comments “a stunning revelation of the liberal mindset and as clear a distinction as we could want for what lies ahead if certain choices are made by voters in November.”

That is why he is qualified to be president, even if he hadn't ridden in a fighter plane and gotten shot down.

Fighter plane?

Throughout history, service in the Armed Forces of our Nation has prepared men for the high positions of leadership in our country. I have seen President Dwight Eisenhower, President Jack Kennedy, and John McCain. I hope to see the title of President before his name. He does exhibit those qualities needed to lead this country in times of complex, critical and stressful international situations. His domestic experience as Senator from Arizona makes him the most qualified man in the United Statess to keep America the Home of the Free and Home of the Brave.

May God Bless Senator John McCain.

What does this have to do with things now? His service is laudable, his stance as a candidate kind of spoils things.

Oh, and yes, I know the rotten alternative, I just don’t like either rotten candidate. Sad that the only thing people that look for something to applaud McCain for, have to go back to the Vietnam years. His performance in Congress just stinks.

“He told me his father and grandfather read history every evening”

What???

We just had a story 2 days ago that put McCain's dad in the same category as Obama’s “father” as having deserted his family.

We were lied to, again?

"Clark's words have great weight because he was speaking as a key political/military advisor to Barack Obama."

Figures that Osama would have a guy who bombs innocent Serb women and children pushing carts with all their wordly possesions on them as they were fleeing their homes, also being bombed by Clark. This "hero" qualifies Obama to be CIC.

McCain's history is clear and well documented. Barry's is not. McCain is qualified to be Commander in Chief and President. Barry has a weak and padded resume'. McCain is far from perfect, and Barry is highly flawed. On balance, I'm voting for McCain since Barry's election would guarantee a disaster. <.p> The Dems should agree since they have never wanted one party to control both houses of Congress and the White House! /sarc

Let’s see, FLYING a jet fighter, getting shot down by Commie scum, and spending over 5 years in a prison camp does not qualify one to be president, but hanging around with crooks and domestic terrorists, and being a southside Chitown poverty pimp does! I am missing something here, or are Weaselie’s comments those of a partisan political hack or a fool?

McCain has proved he has courage when put to the ultimate test, as he demonstrated in the Hanoi Hilton. Now, if only he exhibited that sort of courage in the political realm.

Such things as ANWR, for instance. For him to compare drilling in the Grand Canyon to the North Slope of Alaska is incredible. I have worked on the slope, by the way.

I have a hard time understanding this man. WHY is he such a Rhino? WHY does he stab conservatives in the back every chance he gets? Is he just stupid, or is he a liberal in Republican clothes?

We know he has courage, obviously then, the reason he does not exhibit courage for conservative issues is because he does not believe in them.

I know, but look at the alternative. I’ll probably vote for him for that reason and that reason alone. It really goes against my grain. Knowing that he is going to continue his back stabbing ways if he gets elected.
