A Day in the Life of President Bush... (Photos and news) 07-17-08

Today the President and First Lady attended Tony Snow's funeral, the President made a wonderful speech about how special Tony was and I have chosen these words to be the quote of the day as the content does much in putting things into perspective. We may get tied up on the minutiae of life but Tony Snow showed where our priorities should be never compromising his beliefs but always bearing in mind what was important and treating the rest with good humour and a smile.

After attending the funeral the President travelled to California to view some of the damaged caused by the wildfires and also to speak to those who are bravely fighting them.

Pray for President Bush -- Day 2864

I wondered where Robbie was, when I saw Jill and the two girls. Turns out, he’s one of the pall bearers. I think he’s on the right side, as you’re looking at the picture, just behind the first pall-bearer. I can see just the top of a blond head.

I cant believe Scott had the nerve to go.

My mouth dropped open when I saw him. I couldn't believe it either.

I was there, sitting way in the back. Brit Hume used the proper words when he reported on it: Elegant and Solemn. The children were incredibly composed, but I bet the added pressure of being televised would have made it too much for them. It would have turned into a circus about who were the celebrities in attendance. This way it was a personal event, even though shared with anyone who could make it to the Shrine.

What an honor for Tony to have such a send-off. The President of the United States and the President of Catholic University to give their time and love in their remarks.

I am so glad for you that you were able to attend. As much as I would have loved to have watched, I was really pleased that the family made that decision. I agree that it would have been much more difficult for the children, and after all, they are most important. I am amazed, still, that they participated. How wonderful!

I, and I am sure others, would love to hear any other thoughts you have. Again, I am so glad you were able to pay your respects in that way.

Here is a picture I didn't see yesterday. Tony's brother Steve is the man in the front--gray suit and hair.

Thank-You so very much for a wonderful thread you have done. :) Tony Snow is/was a True American, may he rest in peace now. President Bush’s words were comforting to read. Thank-you for all your hard work you do to make this thread one of the best here at FR.

We need a FULL REPORT detailing everything you saw and heard — perhaps on tonight’s DOSE (7/18/08)?!
