Awesome news. Finally we are fighting intelligently.

Lets take this this issue to the Dems and put their sensitive bodily parts in a vise.

Dare them to oppose new energy sources and let the voters decide.

White House press secretary Dana Perino says Bush is acting now in hopes of spurring Congress to act. So far, lawmakers have shown no interest in doing so.

W knows this this will amount to nothing. His OPEC and other oil buddies will still be happy.

As long as Red Green has enough duct tape, the problems of the world are fixable.

This is great. BHO will have to state his position on President Bush’s move. Will he flip-flop and support it alienating his base or come out against it and let the Drill here, Drill now majority know where he really stands?

Republicans can whip the Democrats with this issue.

I just called, too. You actually get to talk to a real person! I get through pretty quick so that means there aren’t many people calling. We need to burn up the phone lines.

With the caveat that it be used for Coal to Oil for the ailing Airlines and Military only.

That would put the Dem's panties in a wad for sure.....

Hey angkor, don’t you live in Va?
Didn’t the VA. state legislature just pass a bill to allow off-shore drilling?
I wonder if the ball isn’t rolling here...

"Uh being democrat uber-green these days is not popular, especially with $4 a gallon gas."

I hope you are right. I believe in cyclical swings in American politics. I also believe that we have all the things in place to create another swing in the favor of Conservatives in Congress. Unfortunately, we have no leadership and are incapable of employing politics in order to make gains at the ballot box and legislatively.

To make matters worse, the GOP has McCain as its headliner.

On a matter of principle, yes, it should have been done a long time ago.

Their talking points now is that the oil companies have 68 million acres to drill on that they aren’t using. The media is dutifully passing this pap to the American people. Of course they don’t mention that most of this land has already been tested and came up empty or not enough oil to fool with and they are just waiting for the leases to expire. So far this has went mostly unchallenged by the Republicans.

That’s great. Unfortunately there are other factors that will make sure that the oil stays in the ground.

I agree with you and would have back then as well. But I suspect the majority of the population would not.
