Their talking points now is that the oil companies have 68 million acres to drill on that they aren’t using. The media is dutifully passing this pap to the American people. Of course they don’t mention that most of this land has already been tested and came up empty or not enough oil to fool with and they are just waiting for the leases to expire. So far this has went mostly unchallenged by the Republicans.

So if the oil companies aren’t going to drill anyway, why do the Dummiecraps care if the environmental ban on drilling is lifted? What’s driving their opposition if not the environmental lobby? Are they just trying to punish hard working Americans with unaffordable gasoline?

You're exactly right. Pelosi, Ried, et al, have already used that argument. The GOP needs to get off its a$$ and start presenting the other side of the facts. They might start by saying that of those 68 million acres, exploration has shown that most are devoid of oil deposits. In other words, the oil companies paid lease money to the gov't for dry holes. Until the gov't starts giving refunds for those lands, those leases still appear to be on the company books as assets. In some cases, they've kept those acres to gain right-of-way for pipelines and other easement needs.

Finally, the Democrat position is to stick their thumb up their behind and do nothing while the consumer and the economy take it in the shorts. At least drilling now offers the hope and potential of relief. The Dems position does absolutely nothing for the consumer.
