Breaking News >> President Bush to Lift Executive Ban on Offshore Drilling
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
The ball is now in the Pelosi/Reid court.
As someone in the energy industry I would say seven years ago the indusrty was depressd with super low crude oil prices. It would have hurt more than help all the people in the industry and their families. Massive lay offs back then already.
Now the time is right.
Exactly-putting the ball in their court right before the elections.
“I dont think any drilling can take place unless Congress also lifts the ban.”
That’s the beauty of this move. Congress called him on the Executive Order when President Bush called for drilling offshore. Now he is placing the ball squarely in Congress’ court. The public will not see Congress, even more, as an obstacle to lower fuel prices. Congress now has to “put up or shut up” on offshore drilling.
President Bush is backing Reid and Pelosi into a corner and with their 9% approval rating, it’s not going to be pretty.
Has this had any effect on the market yet?
I agree, Bush needs to declare an economic emergency and open ANWR to oil drilling.
It is a good move, but all part of the political theater both parties put on for elections. Screw these bastards on both sides of the aisle. We need to replace them all with leaders and not reactionaries only interested in their own political butts.
Should have been done in 2001, like on Jan 23, 2001. Or even on September 12, 2001.
‘bout time...it only took him SEVEN FRIGGIN’ YEARS to do it!
gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
now it’ll take congress another SEVEN FRIGGIN’ YEARS to follow suit!
They better lift the ban. 90 percent of the people want drilling and that includes democrats
But what about Red Green?
I love it!
It’s time to call attention to these turds who want us to have GAS PAINS.
Use of the term “Ball in their court” Gold, Silver, and a distant Bronze.
It would have been nice if he had done this while he had a majority in the House and Senate. Government is so backasswards. So this means that even if the Congress had passed legislation to drill, it would have been impossible anyway because of the exeutive ban. I wonder why the MSM never mentioned this little detail.
The article stated legislative bans would need to be lifted as well, however, this is a big step in the right direction. Finally some real action other than just talk. Now, the sniveling, cowardly republican congressman and reps need to grow some backbone and attack the legislative bans rather than playing the role of dim lapdogs.
Heck I was beginning to believe he was a eunuch.
Might as well open up the coal in Utah that Clinton closed off for his Indonesian campaign-donatin' buddies also.
I like it when Bill's face turns that real purdy red color.
Great news. How long will it be before the first environmental suit is filed in Federal Court?
