Tunes For The Troops

**Artist Showcase**
Sarah Brightman was born in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England to Paula and Grenville Brightman, the eldest of six children. At age three, she took ballet lessons at the Elmhurst School and appeared in local festivals. At age eleven Brightman attended the Arts Educational boarding school for jazz and acting, an experience she recalled in an interview with The Independent as troublesome. Brightman was teased by other students and ran away once, but nevertheless she remained at the school.
Later, she auditioned for London's Royal Ballet but was rejected. At sixteen, in 1976, Brightman joined the dance group Pan's People, a staple on the BBC series Top of the Pops. She left a year later to lead Hot Gossip, a mixed dance act who appeared regularly on The Kenny Everett Video Show. The group, whose routines were more provocative than those of Pan's People, had a chart-topping disco hit in 1978 with "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper", a space-themed track which sold half a million copies and reached number six on the UK charts. The group released a follow-up single, "Adventures of the Love Crusader", six months later, but it was less successful, failing to chart on the UK's top 50.
Brightman, now solo, released several more disco singles in subsequent years under Whisper Records; these included "Not Having That!" and a cover of the song "My Boyfriend's Back". None of these, however, were as prominent as "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper".

Ours was pretty good, but not very many people were at work today.
Okay, I just got a call from the hospital - Nana’s finally done working. We’re going to meet somewhere for dinner...not sure where, but that’s what being spontaneous will get you!

We’re finally getting a good rain up here in NE Arizona right now Connie! Not a “gully washer,” just a good, steady, drizzle. It should have plenty of time to sink in. It’s great!!!

Greetings to all the denizens of the Freeper Canteen. It's time, finally for a Friday Flyby. After a seemingly never ending set of "opportunities" I have finally gotten back up to about 95% speed on the new computer.
This weekend we have some great pictures from the 2008 Planes of Fame Airshow at Chino, CA back in May. A very large tip of the alfa6 lid to Bernard Zee (Bernard Zee) for putting these pictures up on the net. Well on with the pics.
We lead off tonight's Flyby with the almost obligatory head on picture.

Next up some fine in flight shots of WW-II US Navy aircraft. First up a Grumman F3F Fighter.

Next up an F4F Wildcat makes a pass for the crowd.

An F6F Hellcat does his thing for the crowd.

Next up is a Grumman F8F Bearcat, It's to bad there wasn't a Tigercat there, just to keep the series in order.

And to close out the Flyby we have a Vought F4U Corsair.

Well that's it for tonight's Flyby. An editorial note I am having to rebuild the ping list so if you did not get pinged that is why. I have sent myself an e-mail at work to send my duplicate ping list home. So by next weekend I should be back up to speed, I hope:-)
y'all have a great weekend out there and we'll be back tomorrow night with more pics from Chino.
Regards
alfa6 ;>}

Mrs went home for the annual visit with her Mom in Mich.
DC is doing well so far. Has a meeting with the school district on Tues to process in and hopefully find out finally what school she’ll be at.
Then she can hunt in earnest for an apt of her own.
