"Are they going to ban speedloaders, too?"

Nah, they'll just stipulate that all revolvers have to be Colt SSA style and not have a swing out cylinder. Probably have to have the firing pin on the hammer too...

It seemed to me that the Heller decision left it wide open for government to regulate to their heart’s content - they just can’t ban handguns outright. So if they want to pass laws that state only single-shot pistols of less than .25 caliber will be allowed they can do that. That there will be litigation over this is of no great concern. Government has money to burn and plenty of time.

Just wait until B. Hussain Obama takes office with a filibuster-proof senate and a court packed with leftists.

Liberals and other knee-jerk anti-fireams types think the “auto” stands for auto-firing. You load it, set it on a table and it just starts shooting... automatically, all by itself. They are clueless that auto means auto-loading when referring to fireams similar to the venerable M1911A1 and subsequent variants that automatically chamber a round. Freepers already know these things so I’m preaching to the choir.

I think I see what they’re getting at here.

I talked to a family member not too long ago that bemoaned the availability of “semi-automatic rifles” -

it was clear when I challenged him to define the term that he thought it meant “select-fire”.

I’m betting these hoplophobic gun illiterates are making the same connection in their minds.

You know, the idea that somehow McCain is going to be better at nominating judges is nothing more than a fantasy of the self-deluded.

I think they know exactly what they are but they just want to ban everything they can get away with.

Actually, I’ve NEVER had a revolver get out of time. I own about 8 of them.

I HAVE had semi-autos “jam”, on several occasions. I own about 6 them.

Also, if a round mis-fires in a (double-action) revolver all you have to do is pull the trigger again. A mis-fire in (most, if not all) semi-autos requires that the slide be racked in order to fire the weapon.

I like ALL my guns, but I have to agree that revolvers are stone reliable and that they TEND to be more accurate than semi-autos.

PS - This should in NO way be interpreted as support for banning ANY class of firearm.

lol...
You're closer to the truth than you realize. Since they had success with the sport pilot problem they see a loophole that can be used in other venues. They just enacted a new rule. Ultralight aircraft and pilots need no registration nor license. Your right to fly without government interference is "protected" while you are limited to turn of the century aircraft.

I have seen lots of revolvers that had a cyl out of time and the accuracy is horrendous.

I agree that they are reliable as far as “going off” but that doesn't mean accurate.

Actually, given how obviously unconstitutional this would be, I would guess it would be prevented from going into affect either at the trial or appellate level.

Obviously unconstitutional?????Regardless, if the DC leaders pass a law, it goes into effect and stays in effect until some court (ultimately the Supremes - MAYBE) throw it out. A good liberal judge can make this law go into effect and STAY in effect until two or three or more years down the road, it is "found" unconstitutional by the Supremes - assuming Obama hasn't stacked the court with more Liberals!

My reading of the Heller decision was a little different. Yes, it allowed for some regulation but whole classes of guns that are “widely used” cannot be banned outright.

I see this as the DC politicians trying to stick their finger in Scalia’s eye, even if they know such a law won’t last. For them, it’s personal.

"SHHHH!!!! if they ban clip fed handguns, they will hardly be banning anything. GOOD for the residents :)"

Looks like the gangbangers will have to surrender their Mauser Broomhandles...

Let us all remember that 7 of the 9 judges currently on the Supreme court were appointed by Republican Presidents!
