MCCAIN: PUMP THIS!
by Ann Coulter
July 2, 2008

Well, I guess we're all pretty relieved we didn't drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge back in 2002. What a disaster that would have been.

The vote on ANWR was almost entirely along partisan lines, with all Republicans, except a handful of "moderates," voting for drilling, and all Democrats, except a handful of sane Democrats like Zell Miller, voting against drilling.

John McCain opposed drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge because he polled soccer moms and found out they were against drilling. They thought it sounded too much like going to the dentist. McCain wanted to ensure that he remained beloved by the two pillars of his base: "centrists" and New York Times reporters.

Even Sen. Chuck Hagel voted for drilling in ANWR. But John McCain, "our" candidate, voted against it.

I guess we're beginning to see the problem of basing a political platform on the passing fancies of "centrists." These are people who have no opinions because they know nothing about national issues. They're the ones who check the "not sure/no opinion" box on polls regarding the legalization of cannibalism.

You can't blame them: They're not being paid to know something about national issues. Those people we call "senators" and "representatives."

But now, astronomical gas prices have forced even soccer moms to spend 10 minutes looking at a problem that their leaders were supposed to be thinking about for years. And the soccer moms are saying: Drill! Drill! Drill! Bobby, come down off of there! Stop hitting your sister! Where was I? Oh, yeah ... Drill! Drill! Drill!

Consequently, McCain recently switched his position to go along with the centrists. See, that's the downside of having chosen all your political positions by polling centrists: The moment they acquire any knowledge, they'll realize you're an idiot.

It's always the same argument. Year after year, the "moderate Republicans" so respected at The New York Times harangue us to dump the Christians, the conservatives, the Swift Boat Veterans, the "right-wing extremists," the gun-and-God clingers and the fanatical pro-lifers from our party so we can repel every American who voted for Ronald Reagan in order to win the votes of people like Christine Todd Whitman.

Yes, by all means let's clear out all that deadwood and pave the way for a 49-state landslide! (For the Democrats.)

He called the Swift Boat Veterans "dishonest and dishonorable."
Big mistake.

I don’t know Syncro, I don’t see much evidence that folks here can read lately. Despite what John has been, is, and will continue to be, I see an awful lot of blind support.

He trashes our party and our best and brightest, and then folks fall in line behind him. Whew...

And here I had been telling folks for decades that the things John was supporting, were wrong. Silly me.

I guess they were wrong until John did them.

Resolved: Folks, those things are wrong... unless you see McCain doing them. Then remain silent and hope nobody saw you take notice.

"The irony is, the only people McCain can count on to vote for him are the very Republicans he despises -- at least those of us who can get drunk enough on Election Day to pull the lever for him. In fact, we should organize parties around the country where Republicans can get drunk so they can vote for McCain. We can pass out clothespins with his name as a reminder and slogan-festooned vomit bags. The East Coast parties can post the number of drinks necessary for the task to help the West Coast parties. For more information, go to getdrunkandvote4mccain.com."

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s pretty damned funny. I swear right now, I’m NOT drinking on election day.

Sorry Juan.

I think the general feeling here is that Obama is so vile, that supporting McCain is an unpleasant necessity.

That is not my view, as I will never vote for such a non-conservative as McCain, but the revulsion to Obama is McCain’s only chance.

No more clothespins for me. If the GOP loses, maybe next time they'll run a real candidate.

The only thing worse than voting for a Democrat is voting for a Republican who is really a Democrat. It's not Hobson's choice; it's NO choice.

"Taking the advice of Democrats, Republicans ran "moderates" for president in 1944, 1948, 1976, 1992 and 1996. All lost. Republicans also ran a "moderate" for president in 1988, but that was unwittingly -- both to us and, fortunately, to the voters."

I thought this was one of the best lines.

I agree.

On another thread today I mentioned the list of things Global Warming is going to cause according to the left. Rush mentioned the list today. The left lies, so it can attain it’s goals.

This year it seems to me there is an level of demonization against Obama that I’m not sure I can in all instances support. Look the guy has no experience, his policies are bad, and he’s just not Presidential material. He’s not qualified to serve.

Okay, that’s the long and short of it. I just don’t want to be part of an effort that begins to look like developing a Global Warming cause and effect list, only this one is directed at Obama.

Do I want him to win. I’m not fond of the idea. I think he would make a terrible President. I’m just not convinced his election to office would destroy the nation, end the world, and any hope for our children.

He is bad. So is global warming, if you could believe all that is said about it. And so it goes...

Ann Coulter just can't stand John McCain any more than he can stand us. Should he win in November, it won't be with the help of the moderates and independents. It will be those despised conservatives who hold their nose and pull the lever for him not because they love him but because they love America and know what a Barack Hussein Obama presidency would do to America. Instead of chasing after Christine Todd Whitman's vote and blasting oil drilling in ANWR and embracing every nutty liberal idea under the sun, McCain would get more votes if he pursued drill more pay less, pro-life and lower taxes with a gusto. That's not the advice he gets when he reads the New York Times. The audience RINOs pursue are exactly the very sort of idiots, who for all the pandering to them, end up voting for the Democrat. And Republican moderates wonder why they wind up losing in November. DUH

McCain is a pure nut case. He seems to be senile and incapable of realizing what is going on. Only thing that might save him is the VP. Not much choice, have to go McCain.
