Iran’s neighbours may also have something to say about Iran trying to close the Straits of Hormuz. There is a reason why Gulf States have been on a military buying spree for the last couple of years.

the chief of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, General Mohammad Ali Jafari When will the msm start calling these "elite" forces what they are: cannon fodder. Ask my shipmates what happened last time they gave us trouble in the Gulf.

The truth that Iran doesn’t want to admit is that their only ability to annoy ships in the Gulf is through terroristic action - any organized military operations will find themselves in a shallow grave, on ground, or in the water. Portable missile launchers is about the only thing that will have any effect, and most of those missiles are threats only to oil carriers. A US Navy escort should be able to block any possible hits on the carriers.

This idea worked so well for Iran last time. If they want
round two against our Spec Ops and the Navy, I say let them try.

I don’t think the rest of the Gulf states will let Iran pull that off either. Just cuz Iran has a problem with shipping oil to the world doesn’t mean they do. Where do you think Dubai gets all their dough for those resorts and towers? They, like us, aren’t about to let Iran get away with that.

So, the ‘Revolutionary Guard’ is elite, but the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet is generic. What a joke.
