Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal has signed a stealth creationist bill into law, and American educational standards take a huge step backward: Science law could set tone for Jindal.
The creationist front group called the Discovery Institute is quietly crowing, and maintaining the fiction that the bill is not religiously-based.

So tell me Mr. Biblical Scholar, where exactly was the diameter and the circumference measured? This should be easy for a rational Biblical Scholar man like yourself.
Oh, but it’s a biology text? So how is it that some people get to pick and choose when the Bible is firm in its recollection and when it’s being figurative but others can’t?
I think it’s rather arrogant to lord over people with the solemn word of God when it’s only your narrow interpretation of events.
And I could give two craps what you think is arrogant or not arrogant. But I won't.
Are you the clown who said the Bible claimed that Pi was a rational number?
Oh..and it says everything I need to know about you when you stated my reference of pi is an attack on the Bible. You aren’t viewing science and evolution as an effort to learn but rather an attack on your belief system. I cited it as an example of how a literalist could destroy mathematics if they insisted the text was perfect and absolute and any mathematical difference was heresy.
But like I said, you’ve made firm your beliefs and set your faith upon them. That’s a rather poor and arrogant way to read the Bible. The proper Christian should try and keep science and faith in one accord and not toss aside science because it differs with your interpretation of faith. It’s not an attack to suggest that some passages of the Bible aren’t literal recollections of events.
‘No, it’s not a Biology text. Nor a Physics text. Nor for that matter a History text.’
Then why are you arguing on the side insisting on creationism be taught in schools?
‘Are you the clown who said the Bible claimed that Pi was a rational number?’
Do you doubt the bible gives a ratio of 3? Because I for one will not stand by and let you attack Christianity!!!!! Assemble Christians! Attack that heretic!
What a "proper Christian" should or shouldn't do I wouldn't know. What sect is that anyway?
As for me I'm a Catholic who has a great regard for science, faith and mathematics.
Perhaps you should write more clearly. When you write that the Bible says that pi is a rational number that is nonsense not supported by any facts. You should be ashamed as a "proper" whatever the heck you are for bearing false witness, no?
Well first of all, I'm a creationist. Genesis 1:1 covers it all.
Second of all, though I belive in a very old Earth and an even older Universe I can't stand supercilious, smug dolts that take every opportunity to slander what they see as their inferiors.
Like you.
So inevitably I choose my fellow Christians when push comes to shove rather than the technocrat idiots like James Hansen.
I hope that covers it.
I Kings 7:23 And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
If a literalist is willing to say man was made whole and evolution never occurred then they are hypocrites if they reject the notion that the proper ratio of a diameter to a circumference is 3.
‘When you write that the Bible says that pi is a rational number that is nonsense not supported by any facts.’
Well besides the Bible actually saying it is so. Have you ever read the thing?
‘Second of all, though I belive in a very old Earth and an even older Universe’
So you pick and choose what you want to believe but damn others who do so? So a day isn’t really a day to you but man being made from dust is?
‘So inevitably I choose my fellow Christians...’
Apparently not. Oh...that’s right. You’re the dolt who thinks that everyone who disagrees with you is a heretic and true Christians believe the exact same buffet beliefs as you.
Oops, you screwed up again.
But fair is fair so before I call you a liar, I'll give you a chance to show where I called anyone a "heretic" or where I used the term "true Christian".
But something tells me that when you get back you're gonna have the Scarlet L stamped on your forehead for a while.
LOL, you're not as sharp as the average Christian basher. In fact you come up about three standard deviations short.
I await the passage where the Bible states that pi "is a rational number".
If you cana't do that then you are bearing false witness.
Do you have no shame?????
Yo dumdum, there are no decimal places in the Bibile. You don't know who measured what where and you're beginning to sound like that other great Mathematician, Minister Farakhan.
The key number is the number THREE, THREEE, THREEEEE! (G)
dude, you’re saying I’m a Christian basher... inferring I’m not a Christian.
I freaking nailed you in my prior post. You are so tied in with your beliefs to faith that you simply can not accept that you’re interpreting a text wrong. For someone to say that your interpretation is wrong is an attack on Christianity itself.
Personally I think you’re proving yourself to be unstable and a poor representation of Christianity and Conservatism in your attitude and ignorance.
And once again, I used the literalist guide to get pi.
I wish you were a liberal so I couldn’t be ashamed to see a dumb conservative.
You're a liar who makes things up as he goes as evidenced by the missing quotes of me calling anybody a "heretic", a "true Christian" or "inferring" you are not a Christian.
You should know that Christians frown on lying.
And by the way, I imply you infer. And you're inference was just as valid as your other nonsense.
Say hi to Louie!
No, you stretched the truth beyond recognition by claiming the Bible stated that pi was a rational number which would have come as a quite a shock to Hippasus and his mentor Pythagoras.
Well, that's your opinion and in this great nation, for the time being, that is your right. So I can live with your opinion though, as you may have guessed, I disagree.
But the evidence is in on you and the truth and you failed miserably.
So we will agree to disagree and you can wander the internet withan L e-tatooed on your forehead.
...To me, as a YEC, abiogenesis doesn't describe Creation very well because there was no development involved in Creation....
Not like you asked my opinion. ;)
Hah - no problem...You say tomaytoe, I say tomahtoe...
I'll say that the Creator 'did the development' in HIS mind -- so I'll count that...
After considering your opinion I filed it where it belongs. The point was to illustrate the irrationality of using Pi as an attack on the Bible. You are as irrational as the other fellow. The Bible is not a math text. The Bible never mentions tenths of a cubic no less non repeating irrational numbers. It makes no claim whatsoever as to rational or irrational.Sometimes it helps to connect a few dots.So tell me Mr. Biblical Scholar, where exactly was the diameter and the circumference measured? This should be easy for a rational Biblical Scholar man like yourself.
