OS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday, a spokesman said. He was 71. ADVERTISEMENT Carlin, who had a history of heart problems, died at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT (9 p.m. EDT) after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters. Known for his edgy, provocative material, Carlin achieved status as an anti-Establishment icon in the 1970s with stand-up bits full of drug references and a routine about seven dirty words you could not say on television. A regulatory battle over a radio broadcast of his "Filthy Words" routine ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

Unfortunately, it’s also often very smelly in northern N.J., thanks to their big factories there.
In the name of Christ we pray.???
Hope I'm wrong.
You're thinking of Newark and the surrounding cesspool of towns. Jerseyites don't really consider Newark to be "North Jersey".
You always made me laugh, even at times when I thought i would never be able to laugh again because of the things going on in life.
Every knee shall bow my friend....It is like gravity my friend, you may choose not to believe in the effects of gravity and even ignore the evidence all around you. But one day you will come into direct conflict with the reality of that truth.
George Carlin denied the existence of God all his life, and you are welcomed to do the same. However at the end of the day all the denial that your profess will not have an once of effect that He is God.
Now you need to ask yourself if what you have heard about the nature of God is actually true? Or have you just believed what you wanted to believe? In my case I know He is the kindest and most loving person I know...
I would encourage you to find out for yourself, let me know if I can help.
why do we park on a driveway....and drive on the parkway.....
its amazing how some of these people forget that we are all allowed to have our own opinions of somebody or something whether good or bad...R.I.P. GEORGE....AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ANYWAYS.......
I didn’t always like his politics but, there is no denying that his was one of the truly great comedic talents of all time. He was one of a kind and he will be sorely missed.
and who did he harm...??...he will answer when he faces the big man....he need not apologize to any of us....
He was Catholic as a child, had a severe heart scare two years ago and died in a Catholic hospital. Perhaps he repented in time. I sure hope so.
He kinda seems like the type who would sneak in the back door to Purgatory, so to speak.
Does anyone remember his bit about dying from the album “on the road”?
The comedian KILLS the audience with his FRACTURED humor. He BREAKS the up. SLAUGHTERS them.
I hope he doesn’t go to LIMBO . . .
” . . .Welcome to LIMBO . . .”
This is how I think. Only He knows a man's experiences and heart.
There would certainly seem to be quite a bit needing to be purged.
I don't think so. Carlin pissed on God every opportunity he had. Btw, like Carlin, Einstein was also an atheist.
Probably Toledo Windowbox.

His hedonistic view of spirituality influenced (harmed) many younger people looking for answers or someone to model or look up to.
He kept many from finding God or their spiritual fulfillment in other words. There is much said about that very thing in the Bible. Yes, he did harm people in that way.
As far as what went on between him and God, there was no retentive realization made by him to clarify that he was wrong or had achieved salvation as it is written. If he made that in the last moments, we will never know.
It merely serves all of us as a warning to live our beliefs and let them be known in this life. A stark reminder for the living is all.
I suppose O'Reilly will replay that interview tonight.
