The president is holding a live press conference in the Rose Garden @ 10:30 (eastern) to make very public his desire that we DRILL. He will ask Congress to lift the ban on offshore drilling in coastal US waters.

If we would drill just enough to eliminate the need to buy oil from one single OPEC country we could then stop buying from the most vocal America-basher and watch how quickly the others cave.

I posted facts too, sir. He’s been trying to open drilling in ANWR for years. One little flyspeck of it banned for drilling does not impact drilling the rest of it. Maybe you were unaware of that?

IMO this is largely empty posturing upon McCain's behalf. Some clever child in the RNC has figured out how to posture as being for offshore oil drilling while they'll simultaneously leave the final decision up to the states. They know that coastal states are largely Democrat.

Meanwhile, they'll conveniently forget federalism when it comes to Alaska, North Dakota, or permitting refinery construction.
