McCain Proposes La Raza Town Hall
TOWNHALL ^ | Monday, June 16, 2008 | Amanda Carpenter

GOP presidential candidate John McCain is inviting his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, to participate in a joint town hall at an open-borders advocacy group’s upcoming meeting in California.

“There is a meeting in California of La Raza,” McCain told reporters at an Arlington press conference Monday. “Both of us have accepted invitations. I say that we have a town hall meeting together in front of La Raza. I think that the people will be far more informed and in some ways, entertained if we had that format.”

It's a cruel joke the universe is playing on us -- we have the weakest Democratic candidate in my lifetime, but we also have the weakest Republican candidate in my lifetime.

“I understand what he’s up to - he knows if the GOP offends the Hispanics, an essentially socially conservative voting block....”

I don’t know what you’ve been drinking, but it must be used for cleaning engine parts. Hispanics are “an essentially conservative voting block?” Give me a break! Hispanics are just about the biggest socialists on the planet. Name me ONE hispanic-dominated country that is not socialist. Spain? Socialist. Any country in South America? Socialist. Any country in Central America? Socialist. Mexico? Socialist. Puerto Rico? A U.S. Territory that is hell-bent on socialism.

I think the people can be heard at the state level. They’re not being heard at the moment. WHat are you gong to do, force the oil companies to drill?

They can be heard, but they're not being heard at the moment? What an idiotic statement!

Let me explain something very basic to you, you do not have to force anyone to drill ... give them the opportunity to drill and make a return on their effort and they will explore and drill where ever they can. It is their business.

If you’ll name the one of your cats with the most leadership potential, I’ll try to remember to write him/her in.

Juan “No-Drill” McMecha, who buys into global warming and populist, anti-capitalist rhetoric. The perfect candidate—for the Democrat Party.

The Continental Shelf has always been under Federal, not state, jurisdiction.

“I don’t see where he’s against drilling anywhere else.”

Then you need to open up your eyes.

McCain does not want exploration in ANWR.

"McCain... so weak on the issues, he could run against himself, and still lose"

That is lol hilarious. Make a great tagline.

I sure agree with that. I myself am not going to vote for McCain. I cannot reconcile myself to change me, in order to vote for him. Frankly, we are screwed with either of these candidates. Reason being? They no longer reflect how people think in America. They both reflect the “world view”.

If that is how things are now, well...so be it. I am not going to play, nor will I stamp any approval on a socialist from either party.

People wonder why donations are down here? ...uh...McCain...Rooty...conservatives are sick of being treated like crap on a conservative forum. How many real conservatives can feel Yay Rah McCain? If this place is now supporting and cheering a liberal that they would not accept 2 years ago, I really cannot blame people for moving on. Perhaps conservatism has been redefined to mean liberal now. Doesn’t matter to me, I am not going to accept a Lib like McCain, and vote for him, no matter how awful Obama is. If folks were really afraid of Obama, they would have never accepted McCain as the candidate.

So, McCain, facing opposition in Congress won’t do the old “reach across the aisle” trick? When has he ever met a principle, promise, or person he could not sacrifice to political expediency.

You want me to trust a guy on guns that ranged from C to F- from the NRA on guns. (Except magically in the two years prior to running for president.)

Or trust him on judges while he tells Conservatives he’ll nominate constructionists that will overturn his namesake law and Liberals he’ll nominate Breyers and Ginsburgs?

Hunter is for expanding government or at least not for shrinking government drastically...

Please provide tangible evidence for your claim.

Look, my dream team was and still is, Hunter/Tancredo 2008! Had Tom stayed out of the race (like he said he would if a strong immigration candidate ran) and backed Hunter, I would think a lot more of him today.

Tom is great, but Hunter is the best all round candidate by far. Hunter was in the trenches fighting illegal immigration for nearly a decade before Tom joined in. He should have teamed with Hunter, rather than try to be a star.

Hunter is eminently the most qualified to lead this nation in these troubling times. He not only was a Ranger in Vietnam, but has been very involved in foreign policy and our Armed Forces since his arrival in DC. As Ann Coulter would say, Hunter is magnificent and he is right on every single issue.

Okay ... I'll compare rating for rating with you.
National Rifle Association: A+
Americans for Better Immigration: A+
Eagle Forum: 100%
Christian Coalition: 100%
Family Research Council Action: 100%
Campaign for Working Families: 100%
Concerned Women for America: 100%
National Right to Life Committee: 100%
Federation for American Immigration Reform: 100%
National Federation of Independent Business: 100%
Gun Owners of America: A
GodVoters.org: A (the ONLY A they gave)
American Conservative Union: 92%
Americans for Tax Reform: 88.5% (lifetime-recent was 100%)
National Tax Limitation Committee: 88
National Taxpayers Union: B
ACLU: 7% (indicates very conservative)
NARAL: 0% (indicates a pro-life record)

Not voting for either major party candidate. I’m going to vote for a Conservative, even if I have to write one in, all up and down the ballot.
