WASHINGTON - Republican presidential candidate John McCain admitted on Saturday it can be difficult at times to be proud of the United States.
Ill admit to you that its tough in some respects, McCain said when asked by a questioner at a town hall meeting how to be proud of the country.
We have not always done things right and we mismanaged the war in Iraq very badly for nearly four years.
McCains wife, Cindy, pounced on Michelle Obama, the wife of presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, for saying in February that she was proud of her country for the first time in my adult life.
The Arizona senator said it was important for the United States to be more humble and inclusive.

My greatest fear here is that we're being given the choice between cyanide and Strychnine.
Now the rats can say--- McCain is the "New Michelle Obama"...
I am furious at this country and Bush for what its done to our Serbian allies.
Exactly WHAT has President Bush done to our Serbian allies?
I can tell you what your hero has done:
John McCain armed Kosovo Islamic terrorists

"He did everything that we asked of him, including arming the KLA", said Albanian lobbyist Joe DioGuardi. The Albanians collected one million dollars for the presidential campaign of this senator.
Albanian lobbyist Joe DioGuardi stands left of McCain.
"Even in 1998 when we had problems with Milosevic, McCain did everything that we asked of him to the benefit of the Albanian people, including arming the KLA", announced DioGuardi. "We are American Albanians and we need a leader who will strengthen this country... We must support John McCain because he did everything we asked of him for Kosovo, from supporting the Kosovo Liberation Army to supporting the independence of Kosovo. Two years ago he spoke in Brussels and said that independence is the only solution", concluded this former congressman who has been fighting for the independence of Kosovo and Metohija for more than twenty years.
He explained that the first thing McCain said to him when he entered the hotel in Manhatten on January 22: "Joe, I saw your people in Michigan, and in South Carolina and in New Hampshire", from which this lobbyist deduced that all Americans of Albanian background will be voting for the senator from Arizona.
Face it. We have the two most worthless candidates in the history of our nation running for president.
for later
see my post 58...But I can’t disagree with anything you’ve said about McCain...But it’s something I am not proud of as an American, which is what we’re discussing here.
This guy McCain is hopeless.
I’m done looking for even the lamest possible excuse to put vice-grips on my nose and vote for this sick scumbag.
How about this for a concept?
Instead of everyone "facing reality" that mccain is the "presumptive" we all quit getting in line and drinking the kool-aid and demand a change at the convention?
From the Republican debates:
Cooper: Thirty seconds, Congressman Hunter. The question is, how do you repair the image of America in the Muslim world?
Hunter: Cooper, Cooper, very simply, to the critics of America I would say this. When you were faced with disease and starvation, the Americans brought food and medicine. When you had earthquakes and tsunamis and floods, the Americans came and helped you. And when you were threatened from outside, the Americans left the safety of their own homes to come and defend you.
I will never apologize for the United States of America.
McCain’s comments don’t surprise me one bit. Why people expect good thoughts from scumbags is beyond me.
The die was cast when Serbia decided to side with Russia, America’s traditional enemy. That was, in effect, a declaration by Serbia to the US saying “We are not your friends”.
What choice did the US really then have?
you misunderstood my post. I was asking that question to the post I was replying to. I knew what McCain said because I actually read the article, unlike many here.
Its very hard to be proud of Roe v. Wade, dems, repubs, congress, senate, judges, lefty scum, etc.
But the armed forces, now thats a whole different story altogether.
So really, theres good and theres bad.
I’m totally appalled at the bad, and totally proud of the good.
Uh...we had the choice of not backing Muslims. In my world that’s a no brainer.
Oh, I thought we were discussing the fact that the republican "presumptive" said HE finds it tough to be proud of the USA, which I can understand after HE was responsible for this --
...he did everything we asked of him for Kosovo, from supporting the Kosovo Liberation Army to supporting the independence of Kosovo. Two years ago he spoke in Brussels and said that independence is the only solution"
Couple that with his assault on the 1st Amendment, conservatives, Christians, sovereignty and the gloBULL warming crap, to name a few.
I laughed so hard at pic and caption that I almost fell out of my bed.
But that's NOT what he said..taken completely out of context. But if it makes you feel better about hating him, go right ahead.
How on earth did he end up the nominee! Thanks a lot Huckabee.
He isn’t qualified to be President after a remark like this in a campaign.
