A possible tornado has struck the Litle (spelling from site?) Sioux Scout Camp in Iowa. Very large response is being reported by media. Large number of injuries.
This is only a few miles from me, and it doesn’t look good. They have called all medical personnel from 18 surrounding counties to be prepared for injuries. They have also called up the National Guard. Apparently, the camp was totally destroyed. It’s a horrible situation.
Thanks for the info. They just added more tornado watches here in Minnesota. It’s part of that big long line.

Sounds like Carroll is getting pounded.
Our power went off up here in Calhoun County for a couple of minutes, just a few minutes ago.
We’ve got a good basement, so I don’t worry too much.
But my daughter is up the street working in the convenience store, with no basement.
The freezer in a place like that will protect you up to an F-3 or 4, but a 5 will take a building like that right down to the slab.
I hope and pray there will be no more injuries. Those poor kids—and their leaders—must be scared out of their wits.
Hope there will be information on how to help these families
You are in our prayers tonight, Mom. Stay safe.
Prayer ping.

They’re asking for front-loaders and other heavy equipment to clear roads and lift downed timber (and buildings?).
Someone my daughter knows had a friend who was struck by lightning and killed today, too.
I was looking to see if I could find information on what was going on at the camp this week. It appears there was a Cub Scouts “Fun with Son” event scheduled for today and tomorrow (June 11th & 12th). So my guess at these point is that we’re talking about young boys there with their fathers. I just can’t imagine what the mothers and other family members must be going through right now...
From what I am reading it was a leadership meeting...boys between 13-18. Only mentioned a ‘few’ grown-ups.
I hear you Scouter - prayers for these boys and their families from a Cubmaster (Pack 458) in San Antonio. How awful. I am literally shaking in horror.
A Boys Scout official says there were about 100 teenage scouts at the camp for leadership training.
Thanks.
I haven’t kept up with weather radar today, but the Midwest is not in desirable circumstances these days. I’ll have to check on the family in Iowa.
I just went to the live link, and I must’ve gotten the wrong info, or maybe the Fun with Son event had been canceled? Because they are reporting it was teenagers there for a leadership training event? Sorry about that - didn’t mean to scare or confuse anyone by posting the wrong info.
From the live coverage link from SEMom:
Unconfirmed Tornado Hits Boy Scout Camp, Reported Fatalities
An unconfirmed tornado has hit a Boy Scout Camp in Southern Monona County. Emergency workers tell Action 3 News at least 40 people were hurt. At least four people are reportedly killed. A Boys Scout official says there were about 100 teenage scouts at the camp for leadership training.
Thanks for the link. Not sure I can bear to watch. My prayers for those frantic parents and rescue workers! Heavy equipment is being used to even get to the camp.
This just sounds awful folks.
Our grandson is a member of the NG and he was activated this afternoon. This is a real tragedy.
