Click here I wanted to have this tribute ready for his 101 Birthday, but circumstances beyond my control prevented it,so I saved this for the 29 th Anniversary of his passing.
John Wayne was not only a patriot and hero on the screen, but also in true live.

Thanks...I just thought that more ‘personal’ side of John Wayne was an interesting aspect of his life, that probably most folks were unaware of....had we not checked out the John Wayne Marina, on our first vacation up on Washington State’s Peninsula, we would have been unaware of it as well...
To: Mrs.Nooseman
You should be honored by all!
As should all immigrants who decide to assimilate to our culture.
I know that all migrants have their own culture that they bring with them, but we must all be American first!
That’s the way I see it!
Now, I need to spend some time with my little guys!
Thanks Noosie!

LOL.
This PC stuff is what is ruining this country.
I always believed in calling it how I see it.
No sugar coating from me.;)

It is an interesting read and shows that he was a humble man,not like these actors today that think they are gods gift to the world.

I always believed that.
When I got my citizenship one of my coworkers asked me if I now was a German-American and I answered nope just American.
It took him by surprise.
LOL.
I guess what makes me a proud American is that I don’t take our great country for granted like a lot of Americans.
Have a great evening with the little ones.

Yeeeessss! My man the Duke. Since all the movies coming out on DVD over the last year have been nothing but garbage, I’ve been working on my John Wayne collection. Watched “The Comancheros” last night. I forgot how great a movie that one was.
To: Mrs.Nooseman
Howdy, Mrs.N! I couldn’t think of anything snarky to say
about this thread! :D
John Wayne was a heroic figure who always loved and supported
the troops...and for that America will always be grateful!
Thank you for this tribute to Mr. LUV’s favorite actor! :D

Best movie scene ever in my opinion was when John Wayne, as Rooster Cogburn, took on the four outlaws in True Grit and got them all.
His last movie, the Shootist, was such a classic not only because the storyline so nearly parallels his final battle with cancer, but because he brings in some of the best performances of other giants of the silver screen-- Jimmy Stewart, Harry Morgan, Hugh O'Brien and others.

He and Ward Bond and a few others would go duck hunting out near here every year. My x-brother-in-law waited on them regularly at a tiny general store out in the country.
