Sacramento, CA (AP) -- Assembly Speaker Karen Bass is proposing to raise $6.4 billion in taxes to balance the state budget.

Bass told the Sacramento Press Club on Wednesday she wants to close tax loopholes and eliminate tax breaks on wealthy Californians. She declined to say which taxes Assembly Democrats want to raise.

Terminate about 20,000 state government jobs, or positions.

Then terminate the positions of several million Federal employees that are all on the payroll, sucking the life out of Americans.

Do it now.

Tax and spend. No problem. There are no limits to the abuse the ca voters will happily accept from their corrupt and incompetent elected officials. Give them a raise and provide them a few more retirement benefits and perks while we are at it. If necessary, we can raise some fees or create some more stupid laws that will provide a basis for penalties to supplement the coffer. PS get all the guns out of the hands of the voters before they wake up. It's for our their own safety.

This is what I was talking about. It's obscene. Government out of control.

Notice the page numbers at the bottom? Then next...

And this is just a state government.

Look at the size of these tax paid wages!

These are public servants? What a sad joke on middle class working Americans.

One can imagine what the list would look like for the Federal government. It's endless.

You know, I really take those state of being verbs for granted.

That should have read “That would BE all of us in California that are paying taxes.”

Yes, let’s retire the debt. How about taking some of that lottery money to do it? Because it sure hasn’t done CRAP for the schools.....

This is good way to get rid of Hollywood celebrity culture. They all start fleeing to more income-friendly places, then paprazzi cannot follow them and take picture all in one town.

Well, if they were good, those CalPERS people could make much more money than that in private industry.

Recent performance suggests they actually aren't very good. ;)

So it's kind of a Catch-22 - the state can pay second-stringer investment management salaries that look extremely high by state government standards and settle for mediocre investment performance or go after some big-time performers who will demand $5 million dollar bonuses but in turn will make hundreds of millions more in returns for the state retirement funds.

CalPers returns used to be much higher. Then they put a bunch of union people on the Board who decided that politically correct investments were better than financially sound ones.
