"There must be some righteous person in the chain of command that will say ‘enough is enough."

Unfortunately, if anybody in the chain of command from CiC Bush on down had any spine or integrity at all this mess would have been disposed of over a year ago, the minute everybody realized that they had been the victims of an elaborate insurgent propaganda scheme in which an agent provocateur used a naive, willing dupe from TIME Magazine to write an exciting new "My Lai massacre" story.

But instead, the case plods on.... two years, several million dollars, and 700 days and nights of dread and anguish for heroic Marines and their families - - and counting - - because nobody in the chain of command has the guts to stand up and just get rid of it.

Now to figure out how to get the letters of censure, to Maj. Gen. Richard A. Huck; Col. R. Gary Sokoloski; and Col. Stephen W. Davis, expunged from their records.

Depose SecNav Winter for UCI. Just dreaming, I know.

My short list is usually for “Bush couldn’t carry Reagan’s jock strap” type of threads.

Then please, put ME on your short list too!

It’s a great day for patriots, a bad day for politically opportunist back-stabbing weasels.

To meet their burden, earlier this week, prosecutors presented the testimony of General Mattis and Col Ewers. Conspicuously absent was the testimony of General Helland. In what might be a hint of his ruling, earlier in the week Col Folsom asked what remedies to the UCI problem both sides recommended.

Well, THAT's interesting.

Thanks!

Robert Muise, one of the TMLC defense attorneys, asked the military judge to dismiss the case with prejudice (meaning the case could not be recharged against LtCol Chessani).

GOOD! As it should be.

The prosecution asked for a less severe remedy.

Did I miss it? What exactly was the "less severe" remedy?

I agree with you, xzins. This prosecution was taken as far as it could possibly be taken, it was weak and everyone knew it but it didn’t matter to the ones bringing charges or the prosecutors.

Fortunately the jury panel saw through that effort and acquitted but even though it’s a great relief for Lt. Grayson and his family neither he nor them should have been put through this.

I still believe UCI came from above on this prosecution and the remaining two.

Done!

Now it's a general purpose list. I don't use it often. It's just that the "Guess What Bush Did THIS Time" threads get me all fired up and I just gotta share it with my peeps. Even if they don't like it. Just ask JustaNobody. She don't like me anymore. Maybe she never did.

I must have missed it too, Justa. I'm under the impression a bell can't be unrung. It's evident these prosecutors don't give a damn about anything but winning.

AWWWWWWWWWW! The left-wing bedwetters don’t have their “My Lai” excuse for spitting on the troops. Guess they’ll have to go back to “pitying” them.

It is nice to have company, especially when you think you've lost it! LOL!

It's evident these prosecutors don't give a damn about anything but winning.

True, but the sad fact is that winning, in THIS case, would actually be losing. Perhaps that is what it is really about afterall. ;*(

Quit your whining! Who cares whether I like you or not...I am Just A Nobody!

crying little boy

But then again, I must be a Real Somebody to you, since you refuse to remove me from your insipid list. A list, I might add, I NEVER asked to be on in the first place. How rude!

That was quite thoughtful of both 1st Lt. Grayson and his defense atty, Casas, to mentioning the two Marines who still face court martials.

With regard to Undue Command Influence motion hearing, the judge, Folsom asked Mattis if he considered the possible appearance of improper influence by inviting Ewers to the meetings, which helped Mattis make decisions about who would and would not be charged in the case. Mattis said he did not.

That answer alone, indicates a lack of awareness on Mattis' part. Of course it has the appearnace of improper influence. Wonder what a less severe remedy would be?
