An unnamed expert believes that a nuclear explosion caused the recent 8.0 magnitude Sichuan earthquake in China, where three weeks after the catastrophe the death toll has reached 69,000 plus.

Overseas Chinese website Boxun News reported that the expert confirmed there was a nuclear explosion near the epicenter, based on witness reports and the discovery of concrete rubble believed to have come from an underground military installation.

Apparently there were nuclear facilities in the area, even if that wasn’t the cause. The Chinese don’t seem to be very big on environmental planning or citizen safety.

Elint

Designed to specifically monitor all modes of electronic transmissons - Electronic Intelligence (Elint) gathering.

Anything that produces any type of RF transmissions that can be captured....that is a lot of stuff - TV, CV radio, WiFi, military radio, cell phones, baby crib monitors - anything that is broadcast over the airwaves.

Rumor that a rombic antenna (huge ((acres of land)), diamond shape, highly directional) set up in Minnesota was listening to ground comm (hand held to hand held and hand held to base) in GW I.

No proof to give, but I am a licensed operator and understand the concept completely. Very much possible.

Elint stands for “Electronic Intelligence,” radio, radar, wireless and cellular telephone intercepts.... and we are very good at it.

That's why, when conflict in imminent, intelligence officers on the ground in enemy areas buy, rent, steal backhoes.

Then they cut long sections of the enemy's fiber optics, coax and twisted pair copper. Then we target any repair crews. As soon as we force them up on the air, we got’em!

We are on the same page.....

Best ever example, that I know of, was our subs splicing in a monitoring device in a Commrade Naval installation undersea cable....

Then going back on a regular basis to download the info...years worth.

Balls and know how to do something like that.......and One weasel to give it up.....they would have never known.

I hate spies.

Did they splice in or use magnetic coupling?

Opening the cable to sea water would be a quick signal to the Sovs that something was wrong.

Of course, sub could have brought along a small chamber in which to work along with a man or two, brought cable in, pumped it dry, spliced in, resealed it, etc....

I think Ben Franklin said two could keep a secret if one of them was dead. But wouldn't it be fun to claim China nuked its self? Or secret weapon to guide energy through the earth to cause volcanoes? OOOOuu! I feel a conspiracy coming on.
Haven't quite worked out how to turn a profit on the thing yet so I better get busy to beat the que.

magnetic coupling..

Ya...gud!

No, it certainly could not have been a 'cut / solder connections' type ops.

Just really pisses me off that they knew nothing about it - did not have, nor probably still do not, have the know how to detect something like that.

Until our traitor told them about it.....

An inventive rhombic antenna array structure is arranged to form a pyramid and is designed to operate with a beam forming network, enabling s shaped radiation patterns to be produced over a predetermined coverage/range. The resultant pyramid configuration advantageously has high inherent rigidity, providing scope for lightweight construction techniques. The antenna array structure finds wide application in space-based to systems as well as in ground-based systems.

Found this - is this what it would look like?

Not a chance. It would have to be a hell of a nuke - practically a “Planet Buster” to borrow an SF term.

It seems to me that if a bomb could be blamed for this earthquake, the bomb would have had to be situated at least 5 miles below the surface of the earth — that’s 25,000 feet.

As that socialist U.S. representative said to Gen. David Patraeus: I don’t bye eet.
