WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton has told congressional colleagues she would be open to becoming Barack Obama's vice presidential nominee, saying she would consider it if it would help Democrats win the White House. Clinton, a New York senator, made the comment on a conference call with other New York lawmakers Tuesday, according a participant on the call.

The senator's remarks came in response to a question from Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez who said she believed the best way for Obama to win over key voting blocs, including Hispanics, would be for him to choose Clinton as his running mate.

"I am open to it," Clinton replied, if it would help the party's prospects in November.

"Bush beat Kerry."

Barely. And, at that, Francois managed to grab 49% of the popular vote.

"McCain can beat Obama."

Remains to be seen. If Obama is stupid enough (and I believe he is) to have our former First Bitch as his VP, McCain's chances go down. Way down.

"Conservatives were pissed at Bush then, still are."

That was then, this is now. Conservatives were pissed, as you say, but not so pissed many of them wouldn't still vote for him. Now, the same conservatives are even more pissed at Bush but are justifiably enraged at McCain, and will not be voting for him.

Lesson soon to be learned: never piss off the conservative base. You are bound to need them sooner or later.

Sad...EXTREMELY sad...but true.

One thing that might throw them a curve would be McCain selecting Condoleeza Rice as his running mate.

Making her the VP choice would insure her continued viability as a conadadte until November. If ANYTHING came out on Obama, she would step up to the plate.

And so many things happen to people who cross the clintons...

There will probably be plenty of government jobs available. I’ll have to work on my “sorry, we never received your paperwork” line. I’ve been self employed for so long where customer service was so important to succeed that it will take me a while to get used to saying that instead of taking the time to track down the “missing” paperwork.

Very interesting, but it's early. There are still some tidbits of information yet to be revealed on Mr. & Mrs. Hussein, and on McCain as well. We'll have to see what impact any of that has as November approaches.

The stats on my state (CA) are very disappointing but not unexpected. We passed over to the darkside years ago.

Thanks for that blog site. I'll keep it handy.

But something happened on some show where Beckel got mad and slammed out the door saying that the bitch will win for sure now. I read it here so somebody might remember it more clearly.

McCain will take Florida with ease, although I expect that Obama will spend some cash here to keep him honest.

Palm Beach has always been heavily rat.
Nothing new there, Fawn.

The internals all show increased GOP voting representation statewide in Florida over the past 11 years.

As far as McCain, he was a shock to those not looking closely at what was happenning in Florida.
After Thompson looked at the Florida state internals he dropped out without a fight.

I ended up holding my nose and voting for Mitt, but it was a lost cause by then.

>I will leave my outrageously high salaried job before January 20 2009 and go into the public sector until taxes come back down...

I am planning on a semi retirement, and working mostly outside of the system.
I am quite pessimistic about November, and I remain dismayed at the last of insight shown by most posters here who think that somehow McCain will roll over Obama.
