Are you ready for Vice President Sarah Palin?

Via the Standard, Wizbang’s got a hot tip that the head of McCain’s VP search team is on the ground in Juneau. If it’s true, though, then why not advertise that fact? It’d kick up some buzz … although maybe that’s the problem. If they finally end up going with some more predictable choice, like Ridge or Mitt, it’ll feel like a letdown.

"You're about the only one around here who makes any sense."

Thank you for that....

We are stuck trying to shine a turd... to be blunt.

The alternative could destroy our Republic. I do not understand why conservatives do NOT understand this... Teaching the Republicans will destroy our Republic...

Look at what they will do just to win a nomination... Remember what they were willing to do to win Florida in 2000.

Look and remember well what they did to "win" the state of Washington... they cheated us and the voters, by counting and recounting until they found the magic ballot box that the had been lost and not counted... to put them over... to WIN

Do you (we ) Conservatives NOT see the terrible danger such people are to us? McCain is not perfect...

McCain is NOT a traitor to the Republic...

Conservatives... THINK this through.....Do you REALLY want to take the chance of this country's future to send another lesson? I am to old to be affected by this outcome... but so many of you are not...Consider very carefully..

Dave

Yep; I’ve noticed. It’s the “Let’s bite our nose off to spite our face” syndrome. The worst political mistake of my life was voting for Ross Perot in ‘92 because G.H.W. Bush wasn’t Conservative enough. In doing so, I helped give the world the Clintons for life.

I would love to see Sarah as VP. In my view, McCain is a place-holder for the Republicans. If he chooses his VP wisely, he can serve one term, retire due to his age, and the White House could be won handily by his VP.

Dave, I'm with you 100%. I'm 58, my kids are 28 & 30. I'll be dead by the time this country is really in the toilet.

Thompson and Hunter were my choices. The reality is they're out of the picture. And you're right. We should not take the "We'll show you!" approach.

I really wish the guy who wrote, "Contract With America" (Newt "he-has-too-much-baggage" Gingrich) would coach McC in conservative principles.

> If she’s pro-life, pro-guns and pro-western culture and pro-constitution and has some metaphorical balls then she might not be too bad ... but with young kids....i’m not so sure....

She's all those things, as far as I can tell.

She seems entirely capable of dealing. Two of her three kids have attained majority (18 and 19 I think). She's got new one, and he's got Downs, and her attitude towards that is wonderful (quoted elsewhere in this thread).

I don't wish to argue about it, it's just my opinion -- but I think give all her other accomplishments and capabilities, to say that she couldn't be Veep or Pres because of having a young kid is simply condescending. I think it's a non-issue.

The whining and crybaby crap on this post is pathetic. When do you McCain haters ever stop whining and when do people ever Vote for someone ? Reagan is dead. Listen I WOULD have voted for a conservative but by the time the primaries came around MY guys were out!If you are truly a conservate PRESSURE the RNC to select someone else! the DNC is fractured and may even riot at their convention. It would be a hell of a rallying cry to the RNC if they all of a suddened selected someone else. Btw in 06 I voted straight republican becuase I had dems in the house but it didnt matter, rnc gave these guys little money they didnt win, probably because they were real conservatives.

Thank you for pointing out what will truly happen to this country if Obama or Clinton is elected.

However, the McCain haters will never wake up to the facts or reality. In their minds John McCain must be defeated at all cost. Never mind that the cost may very likely be the total socialization or this country or that our every policy will be dictated to us by the UN.

Defeating McCain is not going to produce another Ronald Reagan in four years. Electing Obama or Clinton will most likely further the demise of the conservative movement to the point that even the most conservative of candidates could never change government policy back to where conservatives would like for it to be. That is, if we could ever convince the voters to elect one to office. Placing Obama or Clinton in power for 4 to 8 years will be the end of the Republican party and the conservative movement.

Got to talk to her a few times in Wasilla, mid/late 90's.

Has a track record of doing the right thing even when it flys in the face of the repub party line; a real positive. (She was a dem when she was young, daughter of school teachers.)

For that reason, she has lost favor with many in Ak Repub leadership but Alaskans support her more than ever as she has gained their trust and proved up. The Republican Party tried to politically destroy her on several occasions once they foresaw her aspirations in state politics; she didn't fit into their game plan. She didn't burn her bridges with party, just bided her time and stood her ground; won out in the end.

Tough enough and the real deal; would serve the Country well.

... willing to accept a young woman with absolutely NO foreign policy experience (or much experience, PERIOD)

I'm willing to vote for anyone who has experience representing American citizens first and foremost.

I'm very damn sick and tired of all these globalists wanting to hold any elected office, just so they can sell us out (some more) to foreigners.

How refreshing would it be to have someone running who can call a spade a spade, and not need to apologize?

I think she would be horrible. She just had a special needs kid who is going to need her full attention.

Sorry but your two points are mutually exclusive.

My sister-in-law, a left-wing Democrat with a prominent position in a state agency in Alaska, respects Gov. Palin for her integrity and competence.

Cue the "Maverick" theme......

Well crud, assuming you’re right, and you live there, is there no end to giving up the store?? Seems that her “aura” doesn’t represent what’s real, very common with politicians.

Be prepared to reap the whirlwind. You like the current Congress? You will LOVE President Obama and his veto proof majority. You will be delighted with the NEW Supreme court. You will be thrilled at the new Fairness in Broadcasting rules. You will love the new, higher taxes to be imposed based on "Fairness".

Just try to undo This damage in your lifetime....

Out of the warming pot .... INTO the Fire.

This choice would destroy the leftist media - Obama strategy. There game plan is to chant its the party of old rich men . This choice would shut them up . Second, if they say she is inexperienced then the two year senator (who does not even qualify for a military security clearance) ad commander and chief would be brought up to talk about. Just pick her.

Agreed. Palin would be an inspired choice. For that reason, I don't think the Stupid Party will pick her. They're much more likely to pick someone who will tick off the base even more than it already is. They're just that dumb.
