McCain calls for guest worker visas

NION CITY - Republican presidential candidate John McCain joined Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in calling today for comprehensive immigration reform, including guest worker visas to bring employees to California's Silicon Valley and the state's vast agricultural fields.

The two men brought up the issue at McCain's prompting during a global competitiveness roundtable featuring California technology executives and entrepreneurs.

Asked by Silicon Valley panelists on what he would do to grant more visa for skilled technology workers, McCain broadly advocated the comprehensive immigration reform plan he had backed with Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy in Congress.

The same issue brought McCain intense criticism during the Republican presidential primary from conservatives who assailed him as soft on illegal immigration and an advocate of amnesty.

But today McCain, the now presumptive GOP presidential nominee, said an immigration program is needed that protects America's borders and national security. While he called for punishing employers who hire illegal immigrants, he also advocated a humane approach that treats illegal workers as "God's child

Odd how I don't see any of Juan's paid mug whores shills flying online apologia squadron hereabouts, defending this latest blatant betrayal of America's security and interests.

The staking through the electoral heart of this unapologetically leftist ghoul, come 11/04, cannot possibly come soon enough.

Come on over and earn your next coffee mugs. LOL!

Although temporary importation of foreign workers does not in itself cause significant U.S. population growth, it usually does because the federal government has done almost nothing to ensure that workers go back home after their work visas expire! The H-2A agricultural guest worker program was passed by Congress in
1986 as part of the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA). Since its
inception, the program has been the primary legal mechanism through which
U.S. employers have hired seasonal agricultural guest workers. PDF http://www.fairus.org/site/DocServer/h2a.pdf?docID=1621

But to show you what a masochist I truly am,

One would have to be a masochist to listen to this idiot. I can't even stand the sound of his voice let alone what he has to say. Let's just hope enough conservatives are re-elected so they can treat him as they would any democrat who they oppose.

This is what we allow ‘legally’ per DAY.

http://towncriernews.blogspot.com/2006/04/day-in-life-of-uscis-is-this-any-way.html

“A Day in the Life of USCIS”- (Is this any way to protect our nation?)

by Mike Cutler, former INS agent

http://uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/DayinLife_050629.pdf (click here to see orignial document)

Some of the DAILY work of USIS according to their own document:

* Conduct 135,000 national security background checks

* process 30,000 applications for immigrant benefits

* Issue 7,000 permanent resident cards (green cards -PER DAY)

* Welcome 2100 new citizens.

* Welcome 3500 new permanent residents.

Does this look like we are not allowing enough “Legal” entries?

I think it’s possible, but unlikely. My understanding, explained to me by another Freeper, is that after the first round of balloting all bets are off, but McCain is almost certain to win on the first ballot. Although if anyone wants to organize a “torches and pitchforks” march on the convention I’m all for it. We need to wake up the party somehow.

I won’t vote for him, either. No way, no how.

And FWIW, according to Gallup, 76% of Republicans are unhappy with McCain being the nominee.

John McCain will hurt it the least. At least he’s right about one or two things (abortion, courts?, and national security), but he sure sucks (pardon my French) on immigration and freedom of speech.

I’m conflicted, but I’m going to have to hold my nose and vote for him. It will be worth it just to see Hillary go down.

You don’t really think she hasn’t got something crooked going on that will net her the nomination do you? C’mon, she’s Hillary.

I just couldn't believe that some Freepers thought that McCain had "learned his lesson" about amnesty. Unbelievably gullible! There is a line in the book No Country for Old Men that this reminds me of. Sheriff Bell said that his father told him a story about trying to deal with a horse trader.

He said this trader one time he put his arm around him and he looked down at him and he told him, "Son, I'm goin to trade with you like you didnt even have a horse." Point bein some people will actually tell you what it is that they aim to do with you and whenever they do you might want to listen.

Yes, it does seem to fit. McCain has been saying for weeks what he planned to do with the illegals. It should come as no surprise.

"Gullible," hell! They've been lying, barefaced, on these very boards for months now -- just as their anointed RINO has, all along.

And some FReepers want me to vote for this jerk?

Just those who either work for McCain or the RNC, and are tasked with whipping us into voting for this master RINO.

I live in AZ (where we are over-run with illegals) and support guest worker visa’s. Employeres have to jump through a bunch of hopps to get permission...they have to prove a “need” (which is hard to do). And then, the “guest worker” is finger-printed, has a backgound check run and given a physical before being allowed into the country for a specific limited time. If he or his employer volate the agreement...there are material fines on the employer and all legal methods of US entry are closed on the guest worker.

It’s a mini-version of a green card...a system that works well...so I’m not sure why even you ...(with your vitriolic hatred of Mccain) would object.

That’s one of the problems with hatred...it’s gets in the way of common sense.

>>I live in AZ (where we are over-run with illegals)<<

But you are “happy in AZ” anyway.

>>and support guest worker visa’s.<<

So do I, but not an unlimited number of visas and even more guest worker programs than we have now.

>>And then, the “guest worker” is finger-printed, has a backgound check run and given a physical before being allowed into the country for a specific limited time.<<

“Background checks?” based on “reliable” Mexican (or similar) records?

>>If he or his employer volate the agreement...there are material fines on the employer <<

McCain did not vote for an amendment this year that would have funded and otherwise mandated a system that would track when a visa holder leaves the country. So our government, which can’t find its a** with both hands, is suddenly going to start cracking down on expired visas?

>>and all legal methods of US entry are closed on the guest worker.<<

Once they enter, why would they care whether their visa had expired?

>>It’s a mini-version of a green card...a system that works well...<<

Apparently it works well for you.

so I’m not sure why even you ...(with your vitriolic hatred of Mccain) would object.<<

Exactly how many work visas is enough? No matter how high the numbers, your friends (I don’t know you, so I don’t know if there is some number of visas that you personally would be satisfied with) would always ask for more. How many guest worker programs do we need?
