Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Friday is scheduled to meet with two Republican governors who have been prominently mentioned as potential running mates, according to Republicans familiar with Mr. McCain’s plan.

Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, have both accepted invitations to meet with Mr. McCain at his home in Arizona, according to Republican familiars with the decision. One Republican said that Mitt Romney, a former rival of Mr. McCain for the presidential nomination — is also expected to visit him this weekend. Mr. Romney’s advisers declined to comment.

Sanford would be my first pick-but I would think outside the box and go with Kudlow. No one explains supply side economics like that guy (Yes I realize that he is pro-immigration-but we are screwed on that anyway).

Sanford is smart as a whip, as is Romney (though the "Mormon thing" may still be an issue).

The good news is, it seems as though Reverand Ike Huckabee and Con-dull-leeza are of the table.

I have a bad feeling that it is going the be Cristopolous. I think the “Gay Mafia” has McCain in their pocket.

I like Steele because of his positions, not color.

He lost in Maryland because Maryland had jumped off the deep end of liberalism. Montgomery County “We're queer and we're here” school policies are evident of that. I see no reason to view him as damaged goods.

You seem fixated on color. You might want to examine yourself on that.

How about a list of your three running mates based on their conservatism rather than color?

If it's Crist or Romney, I'm off the McCain bandwagon and will be looking for a 3rd party candidate to support.

If it's Jindal, I'm on the bandwagon fully.

That's all there is to it.

Colin Powell would be a great choice if he was 10 years younger. He is McCain’s age and the GOP needs a young VP Age 50 to 55 to balance the age issue of McCain.

Sad but true if we don’t get a person who is the right age as a VP. America will not vote for McCain

He is easily the most qualified out there to eventually become president.

I concur.

"It's the economy, stupid". Romney is the only one who understands economics backwards and forwards. Already, big money has fled NY to Asia, particularly Hong Kong.

Romney is the excellent choice out of those three, for sure.

Understood, but you still have not answered what role—if any—his personal faith plays in his example to the nation. Did millions of people become Methodists because George W. Bush is a Methodist? I fail to see the grave danger to the country from having as Mormon as vice president or even as president.

I see all the Precious Willard kneepadders are out in full-farce in this thread. They’re like Bubba & Obama’s women.

There is simply no way to tell how many people were influenced in part to accept Christianity because Bush is a Christian. But I believe that it happens.

Perhaps Romney becoming President would discourage people from becoming Mormons and cause a mass exodus from the Mormon church. And if I knew that with certainty, I might vote for him despite his liberalism.

and Eternal Vigilance are the worst offenders in their overt bigotry against Romney

I thought all FReepers were "bigoted" against liberals.

But, if you're accusing me, without pinging me, of anti-Mormon bigotry, I would ask you to provide evidence of same, or retract.

I won't hold my breath, of course.

I already plan to write in Santorum for President. Can I vote for him for VP as well?
