Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Friday is scheduled to meet with two Republican governors who have been prominently mentioned as potential running mates, according to Republicans familiar with Mr. McCain’s plan.

Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, have both accepted invitations to meet with Mr. McCain at his home in Arizona, according to Republican familiars with the decision. One Republican said that Mitt Romney, a former rival of Mr. McCain for the presidential nomination — is also expected to visit him this weekend. Mr. Romney’s advisers declined to comment.

Thank God.

I'm debating whether or not to cast a vote for McCain, and Huckabee on the ticket with him would definitely cement the deal. I've never voted for the man, even when he was running for public office in my state, and never will.

Kasich has to much baggage. I remember alot of rumors flying around about him and his association with Gary Condit.

Romney is probably out because of his religion.

Why? Is he trying to force Mormonism down your or anybody else's throat? He is easily the most qualified out there to eventually become president.

People, think.

The choice begins, and essentially ends, with Electoral Votes.
Sanford does not bring new EVs to the ticket. Jindal doesn’t either. Pawlenty can make a case for it in Minnesota, but the Obama lead in MN is now so large that the home of Humphrey and Mondale is VERY unlikely to abandon a far left wing presidential candidate like Obama.

Romney is the economic gravitas and he is all about Michigan. Make no mistake about it, McCain’s advisers remember that Romney took Michigan from McCain and easily.

The problem is this. There are only a handful of states that are in play, as is always true. There is NO VALUE in picking a candidate from a state that is not in doubt. Doing so almost cost Bush the presidency. His VP should have most assuredly been from FL in 2000.

So this year, think VERY STRICTLY about GOP moderates from Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico or Colorado. Anywhere is may very well lose the election.

Lieberman
Jindal

In that order.<

Naw! All are either RINOs, (infiltrators), or untried.

I frankly don’t think there is anyone with any traditional conservative values who would want to sit in second position to McCain and a subversive Congress.

The voting public has gone American Idol mad, so how can there be any hope for the country? We had our last chance in a lifelong patriot, with a cool head and a steady hand, Duncan Hunter, but y’all were not “entertained” by what he said, or “charmed” by who he was, so we ended up with who the globalist Rockefeller “Republicans” wanted - RINO John McCain.

Now who do you think the star struck will vote for? Obanao!

There’s nothing in John McCain’s record to suggest he’ll do the right thing or the smart thing. My money’s on Charlie Crist being the pick. And what an atrocious pick he’ll be.

The fact that he even has this metrosexual putz on his short list speaks volumes.

A non vote or third party vote is simply a vote for the Dems/

First time in forty five years that I have to vote for someone that I really despise.

Amazing how Fred Thompson seems to have been thrown down the Memory Hole. Last year he was the big hero to many who would get a slam dunk on the nomination the moment he announced. Well he kept putting off that announcement and when he finally did couldn't even muster a smile on his face. From that moment on his campaign was downhill. Almost no energy nor organization. Finally he just fizzled out and now seems to be forgotten.

Realpolitik. The propriety of using someone’s religion as a reason to not vote for them isn’t at issue. It is simply a self-evident fact that people do use it as a factor in the decision.

Like with Catholics until 1960. Now a complete non-issue.

Santorum

Are you kidding?

Picking a loser is not going to pump up your campaign

Though I like Santorum, he got beat for his Senator seat and the guy is radioactive to moonbats.

What's wrong with Romney being a Mormon?

Jindal hasn't had enough administrative experience yet to shore McCain's lack of it up.

Now that is funny
