Well any ways as this weekend is the 65th anniversary of the Dam Buster's raid I figured to post up some pics of the British Lancaster Bomber. Thanks to Freeper Stoat for posting a thread on the remembrance of the anniversary in England. That thread is (HERE) And back in Dec of 2003 the Freeper Foxhole posted a thread on the DamBusters (THERE). Thanks to snippy_about_it for pointing out that thread.
Well now that we have all of the credits in order on with the pics.
First up from 1940 a head on pic of a Lancaster, for a B&W pic I think this is really great.
The Lancasters of 617 Squadron had to be specially modified in order to hold the Dam Busting bomb. Here is a pic showing the mods to a Lancaster.
This picture shows to good effect the bomb as well as the pulley and belt system that was used to rotate the bomb before it was dropped.
A nice color pic of the RAFs Battle of Britian Flight's Lancaster, I think.
This Lancaster belongs to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Musuem.
To close out tonight's Friday Flyby we take you back to 1943, where a Lancaster is returning to it's base after a long night mission over Nazi Germany.
Well that's all for tonight folks. With a wee bit of luck we will be back tomorrow night with a Saturday Sortie. y'all have a great weekend.
Regards

Great shots of a tough warbird, Alfa!
Sam’s and WallyWorld...hubby’s favorite haunts! LOL!
They just keep sellin’ stuff and I don’t see how the media
can say that the economy is bad as long as they are as
crowded as they are! Sheesh!
Congratulations, alfa, for braving and conquering the crowds of Sam’s and Wally World. And then still having the strength to bring us the Friday Flyby...((HUGS))...nice pictures of the Lancaster. Thank you.
