I remember the President saying, many years ago, that he’d love for one of the girls to get married at the ranch, in an area that he called the “Cathedral”. I wonder if the ceremony will be held anywhere near that.

Could I please have the picture of the Angel with the veil and flowers, from post #38, on my toaster? It’s beautiful with the sunset behind it!

Thank you, snugs! Wonderful and joyous Dose day, for sure. I've been wondering for the last 3 hours: what's happening now??? .. LOL .. and no bride and groom pics til tomorrow ... ;(

Here's the Salado Silver Spur Theater

And

Old Salado Springs Celebration Center and Retreat

"Tyrone Smith of Nashville and his 10-piece party band, The Tyrone Smith Revue, were hired to play at the reception in Crawford.

*snip*

Smith, who also played at one of the 2005 Bush inaugural balls at the Washington Convention Center, normally coaxes his audience members onstage to dance. He planned to make the president a target Saturday night.

"If he's around and the party's going, I'll get him up," Smith said. "I can't imagine him ducking out."

Smith planned to play "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang as the newlyweds arrived at the reception about 7 p.m. CDT in a tent on the 1,600-acre family ranch in Crawford. He said the band would play briefly, then break while the attendees have dinner, then resume and play until around 1 a.m.

"It'll be a 'get down' party," Smith promised.

The band planned to do its usual show, which normally includes covers of "Proud Mary," "Play That Funky Music," "Sweet Home Alabama," "Crazy in Love," "Hey Ya!," "Brick House," "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and others.

"If anyone's in sight, I'll get them up onstage," Smith said.

The band was asked to do "Lovin' in My Baby's Eyes" by Taj Mahal for the newlyweds' first dance."

~~~~
Whoa .. Taj Mahal! I saw him over 40 yrs ago at a college frat party when he was a fringe hippie type .. can't believe he's still around. You can hear a snippet of the song
HERE
Wishing you a lifetime of good health, best friendship, love and joy, Jenna and Henry!
This is on the Lucianne.com website along with the greeting to Henry and Jenna. I think it is very sweet and the colors in the photo are the palette Jenna is using tonight.
We wish a lifetime as beautiful as a field of Texas wildflowers for Jenna Bush and Henry Hager on their wedding day.
doesn’t sound like it..the ‘Cathedral’ is in farther on the ranch and sounds kinda difficult to get to. The lake is maybe 150 feet from the house and that’s where their are getting married.
the aerial pictures they showed on TV today shows the lake maybe 150 feet from the house, i know it’s a man made lake that President Bush has stocked, so may that’s why today’s pictures look alot different than these.
Darn. I was hoping there would be some more wedding info by now, but I guess we just have to wait. :-(
Miss Didi, the angel photos are lovely!
DrDeb, THANK YOU! I KNEW YOU would get us some info about the wedding. Mr. Hermann confirmed what we all know...our terrific President is gracious, unpretentious and unassuming.
As much as I’d love to have seen the wedding, I’m happy the families and friends were able to celebrate, privately, without being concerned about the critical, mean spirited media hanging over them.
Congratulations to Jenna and Henry.
Well, even if it wasn’t in the “Cathedral”, it WAS at the ranch! It gave them so much more privacy!
Oh yeah, I want to see the dresses, especially the varied colors of the dresses of the “House Party”. I’d read somewhere that Barbara was planning to wear a dressy outfit that included pants! That would be interesting, and I could imagine how comfortable that would be! I’m thinking in terms of that type of outfit for a Mother of the Bride or Groom, when any of our kids get married.
I love how the US terms are nearly the same as ours but not quite.
We have senior Bridesmaid and other Bridesmaids whereas you seem to either have one Bridesmaid and attendants or Maid of honour and Bridesmaids I suppose is differs from area to area and family to family what they call it. We also have the term matron of honour which is used for the senior bridesmaid if she is married otherwise normally a married lady would not be chosen as a bridesmaid.
When I was younger confetti was popular to be thrown at weddings but of recent years we seem to have gone back to rice and many venues do not allow confetti because of the staining from the colours but rice being natural are happy to allow that. Of course then do gooders etcs have got concerned that hard rice might hurt someone - I kid not so often unfortunately some places ban both. Most people manage to go over this someohow.
I think also you call what we refer to as the best man to the groomsman. What do you call male bridesmaids we call them page boys and and they often have the job of instructing where people should sit in the actual marriage ceremony venue.
Ours is the same, snugs. Maid of honor (and/or matron if the gal is married) and bridesmaids. Best man and groomsmen. Also, a bride may have flower girls (very young girls who toss petals) and a ring bearer (young boy who carries a "ring" on a pillow). Some brides opt to not have the latter for fear that they will steal the show. I remember a family wedding when my little cousin as ring bearer just started singing to himself on the altar during the ceremony...it was hysterical.
As for ushering guests to their pews, that's the job of the groomsmen. And most churches do not allow the use of rice today as it is harmful to birds. Instead the wedding guests toss bird seed at the happy couple.
