Barack Obama won the North Carolina Democratic primary Tuesday, FOX News projects, preventing Hillary Clinton from staging an election-day upset in the Tar Heel State.
Clinton took the lead in Indiana, but it was still too early to call the race.
The two states are the last big contests on the primary calendar and together offer the final chance for the candidates to make a serious dent in the delegate counts.
Both candidates were faring well among bases usually loyal to their campaigns Tuesday.
In Indiana, Clintons advantage is based on groups that have supported her in earlier primaries white women, white working-class voters and rural voters.
With 63 percent of precincts reporting, Clinton led 54-to-46 percent.

There will be a statistical tie in total popular votes since Puerto Rico will be about double the combined total of Montana and South Dakota.
In the end, the Democrats will seat both the Florida and Michigan delegations with nothing other than a token delegate penalty and a stern warning and not to change party primary dates again or they will really, really get penalized next time.
They will do this because it will be apparent that they won't be enough to change the outcome and the Democrats have no choice but to annoint Obama.

If Barry picked Hilly as his VP, then he’d better make sure that he has more NoI and Secret Service protection and stay the hell away from Fort Marcy Park.
TornadoAlley3: “Clinton got 59% NC white vote.”
I’m starting to think McCain will pick a RINO running mate and run for the middle. If Obama beats Hillary, which is very likely, McCain only has to act like the moderate Democrat he truly is. He’ll likely split the disaffected Hillary vote with Obama and could very well win without significant support from the right. Essentially, it’s looking to me like conservatives are going to be completely marginalized.
Change our diapers...change we can relieve in!
Democratic
The latest from Indiana . . .
Hillary Clinton 209138
Barack Obama 158564
Mike Huckabee 16406
John McCain 109719
Ron Paul 12426
Mitt Romney 7089
God help us- he’s taking it straight from Marx now, eh?
Now, bellowing like a demagogue, dismissing the crackpot Reverend "association" as irrelevant negative campaign tactics while he goes off on his own negative rant, shouting and yelling like his pastor. This is the exact opposite of his recent statements which can now be seen to have been fake.
Can you spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y?
His shouting and yelling will be his undoing in this election.
“McCain, Hillary, or Obama? Its a no-win situation.”
Agreed, so that leaves ranking them in order of who you lose least with. By my reasoning, I rank them from least bad to worst:
(1)McCain
(2)Clinton
(3)Obama
McCain is the least scary and Obama is the most scary.
I NEVER thought I would say this ever...but I’ll take McCain or Clinton anyday over Obama.
For one, I think McCain’s chances of winning the general election are good. I believe those Clinton and Obama supporters that won’t vote for the other if their guy/gal isn’t elected. McCain will be elected by default.
Hey Tomguy, is that you in the first row of Post #17;-D
I have never watched AI.
Yet, I must admit I think you are pulling my leg. I mean how does a 18-22 year old know anything about “civil rights” struggles.
Barry and Micky may have put her up to it.
All they have to do is run split-screen clips of Obama shouting, yelling, and whooping it up in hysterics next to his pastor.
Interesting- so did Harold Ford on MSNBC. In fact- he said talk is now beginning to turn seriously “amongst party bigwigs” to and Obama Clinton ticket.
A living nightmare.
HaHa - McCain lost 20% of the vote to Paul and Huckabee - if he losses 20% of the Republican vote in the general it’s over for him. But maybe he can carry Mexico to make up for it!
You’re kidding, right? He didn’t openly state that, did he?
Let’s see, the NC primary closed not long ago, the Indiana Primary already has about 16 precincts in, I have seen no returns on NC yet but Obama is predicted to win, at the same time, with about 16 precincts and 59 percent of the vote for Hillary so far, Indiana is “to close to call”. Sounds like a republican/democrat general election instead of a democrat primary.
