To: don-o
Don-o said if I send this to him, he'll ping it to everybody else: so here goes:
Thanks be to God, I'm doing great. Glad nobody asked me about yesterday, however: I was crawling down Pain Lane towards Terminally Grouchy Gulch. OOh. Uh-—my abominable abdominals! Nuff said about that.
But today was almost startlingly different. I could do all my toileting almost like a normal person (ahem) and walk without gripping onto my husband. Poor guy. I think he has my finger-indentations permanently impressed into his forearm.
My blood sugar was 101 at noon. My doctor put me on 1/2 of a crushed 500 mg metformin, but pending such good results, I may not even need that. Yahoo!
I felt lifted up to high altitudes, which I can only attribute to the Lord's goodness and the besiegement of heaven by family and friends.
Don-o is making me a sugar-free custard, everyone has been ~so~ kind, and FReeper Prayer Brigade, you have served with honor. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

More prayers.
Not sure if it’s appropriate to recall it, but this reminds me of when I had a laparotomy for Hodgkins, 20 years ago. The surgeon said that my guts would shut down for a day or two, and then offered a great analogy. He said that the brain is like the officer in charge of the whole body, but that the guts are commanded by an experienced NCO, who can be relied on decide for himself what is the best thing to do in his area of responsibility.

So glad to hear you're feeling better!! You'll find that there are some tasty sugar-free products out there to help with your dietary changes. We've been using Splenda in our coffee for over a year, and have started using a Splenda Blend (1/2 sugar, 1/2 splenda) as a substitute for granulated sugar in cooking and baking. Sure, it's not exactly like REAL sugar, but when you can't have real sugar, it's a tasty substitute.
Will keep you in my prayers for the needed lifestyle changes ahead.

You have and will continue to be in my daily prayers. Thank you for the update on your condition. Abdominal surgery is not pleasant but the pain killers are ;-) (just kidding). May our Lord continue to watch over you both as you walk the road to full recovery.

Great to hear that you're doing well.
Don't expect every day to be that good, but it does get better after any type of surgery.
Get well, heal, and live well.
