PRAYER REQUEST FOR MRS. DON-O

My wife Mrs. Don-o is having gastric bypass surgery on Thursday, May 8. If all goes well, she should be discharged on Saturday.
She is very confident in the surgeon, who has done over 1800 of these operations (four hour procedure). She is doing all the research possible on her own and expects do fabulously.
The hope is for almost instant relief from diabetes and three or four related co-morbidities. The major post-op risk, statistically, is pulmonary embolism. In her case, this risk is mitigated by the fact that she's been walking and exercising a whole lot, but exacerbated by the fact that she has a presently incurable and progressive form of COPD (rheumatoid-related bronchiolitis.)
She says if y'all would pray for her she'll breathe a lot easier (!) Thanks, everybody.

To God be the Glory, beloved of Mr. Don ... Great things He has done, and continues to do.
Rejoicing with both of you, and continued prayer that nothing hinders complete recovery.

Great news, Mrs. Don! I’m sure hubby doesn’t mind the finger indentations. I know he’s thrilled to see you up and around as we all are. You just keep on with the wonderful progress and enjoy your sugar-free custard. You go, girl! :)

Glad you are feeling better and that Mr. Don-o is taking good care of you! If he doesn't let us know, ok?
Take it easy and one step at a time.

More prayers.
Not sure if it’s appropriate to recall it, but this reminds me of when I had a laparotomy for Hodgkins, 20 years ago. The surgeon said that my guts would shut down for a day or two, and then offered a great analogy. He said that the brain is like the officer in charge of the whole body, but that the guts are commanded by an experienced NCO, who can be relied on decide for himself what is the best thing to do in his area of responsibility.

So glad to hear you're feeling better!! You'll find that there are some tasty sugar-free products out there to help with your dietary changes. We've been using Splenda in our coffee for over a year, and have started using a Splenda Blend (1/2 sugar, 1/2 splenda) as a substitute for granulated sugar in cooking and baking. Sure, it's not exactly like REAL sugar, but when you can't have real sugar, it's a tasty substitute.
Will keep you in my prayers for the needed lifestyle changes ahead.
