Barack Obama, declaring thats enough, denounced Tuesday as appalling and ridiculous comments made in the last few days by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.
In a press conference in North Carolina, the Illinois senator used his strongest language to date to condemn Wrights controversial sermons, which have remained a burden on his campaign since they became national news more than a month ago. Wright spoke Monday at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
I am outraged by the comments that were made, and saddened over the spectacle that we saw yesterday, Obama said.
The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe they ended up giving comfort to those who prey on hate, he said.
Wright capped off a weekend-long set of public appearances at the Press Club, returning to the spotlight and casting an unwanted shadow over Obamas campaign. Wright used his appearance to taunt reporters, criticize his countrys foreign policy and suggest that Obama only distanced himself from Wright out of political posturing.
Obama said he was particularly angered by that suggestion.
If Reverend Wright thinks that thats political posturing, as he put it, then he doesnt know me very well based on his remarks yesterday I may not know him as well as I thought either, Obama said.
Shortly after the Wright controversy broke, Obama condemned his pastors sermons but still kept him at an arms length, saying Wright was like family and he could no more disown him than his own grandmother.

To be ‘outraged and angered’, one needs standards and morals. Given that Obama stayed in that “church” for 20 years, and given that he is a senator, he has demonstrated that he has neither. He also has a false sense of “hope” if he believes that this is now ‘old news’.
So, what does this do to the Obama/Wright CONSTITUENCY that agrees with the #000000 Liberation Theology?
Obama is outraged alright.
He's outraged that he's being OUTED as an America-hating, black polarizing POSER!
Keep pretending to love this country Obama. (You can use [domestic terrorist] Ayers and [Charles Manson groupie] Dohrn as character witnesses.)
The notion that Obama should have or could have left this church or even criticized Rev. Wright for his teachings is ludicrous. That ain't how it works. You go there to "be seen" there.
That is why Obama is in such a bind now. He looks ridiculous because he cannot publicly admit that his membership in this church was all about politics to begin with. It gives the lie to his entire "new politics" campaign.
That's a good one.
Yes, but if the Beast gets the nomination, despite having FEWER elected delegates, the Obamamaniacs will go positively NUTS! The ‘
Rat party will destroy itself. And I will be on the sidelines giving them gasoline and matches.
That dialogue seems soo, soo European. Did he make this speech with a pipe and a checkered suit? That would really look funny with bowling shoes Barry.
Wright must be busting a gut about now. Jumpin' the broom, covering his heart, waiting for the big one.
"Get back in the cave Hillareeee...you old bat. We got more where that come from."
You underestimate the cunning and political skill of the Clintons.
To people who would kill their grandmothers to sit in the White House, swollowing pride means nothing. They will offer Obama whatever he wants for his endorsement, support and possible second place on the ticket.
Hillary KNOWS what you are stating and she will do everything to prevent it.
This is a setup deal. This is a cheap sideshow trick of a huckster. Shuck and jive as Louey Farakan(sp)used to say.
Obama did not disavow R. Wright the first time he had an opportunity and it haunted him for weeks. It would not go away. He (Obama) could not just suddenly find it in his heart to disavow R. Wright without some provocation. Otherwise it would look like he was caving in to save his campaign; whick is exactly what he is doing.
so R. Wright, Obama’s life long mentor and spritual advisor, that Obama did not really get to know on personal level, provides him with another opportuinty to do what Obama is now doing.
This is just a load of BS put on by these two to get Obama clear
Obama's the one running for president, not Wright. So, they'll choose Obama.
You can bet everyone in the TUCC congregation will vote for him, no matter what he says about their pastor, because (a) they know it's all an act, that he still secretly believes in what Wright stands for and (b) because this is their first chance to elect a black president.
What the odds in Vegas that Rev. Wright gets the last word.
BHO just jumped the shark tank.
There were alot of folks in the audience that agreed with Rev. Wright’s speech, many of them heavy weights in the black community. (Cornell West, Malik Shabazz, etc.)
Obama will never fight back at these racists, he is not going to change what he is, a basic Leftist Black Racist politician. What you are hoping for is someone that does not exist, Obama is not going to help anyone but himself, he never has and never will!
Ah, doesn't Barry wish it were so!
But it's not. Clinton didn't have a 20-year relationship with Sister Soulja. She didn't consecrate his marriage, baptize his daughter, or give him a book title. He didn't contribute tens of thousands to her. Hell, Billy Jeff wasn't even caught in bed with her!
Sorry, Barry, but Wright sticks to Teflon!
Yeah but you gotta wonder if Wright has something against BHO. The Reverend had to have known his little speaking tour would not be good for BHO.
Or was he doing it just for his own publicity?
Barry is trying to save himself and da “rev” is trying to make himself into another Jesse Jackson, race hustler.
This may convince a few liberal brain-dead Whites, but Barry’s constituents will know what he’s really saying. (he doesn’t mean it)
Obama was ‘outraged’ by what Wright said at the National Press Club, because Wright said Obama was just doing what a politician does. Obama heard Wright say “US of KKK A” and “God damn America” and “the government created AIDS to kill black people”, and yet none of that was enough to outrage him. Obama was only outraged when Wright tagged him as a disingenuous politician. Obama’s ‘outrage’ is all about disrespect towards him, not America.
He dissed me I tell you !!
