Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain accused North Carolina's Republican Party of being "out of touch with reality" over its refusal to pull an advertisement criticizing Democrat Barack Obama.
In an NBC interview aired on Friday, the Arizona senator said he has done all he can to persuade the state party to cancel the television ad that criticizes Obama as "too extreme" because of controversial remarks made by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
"They're not listening to me because they're out of touch with reality and the Republican Party. We are the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan and this kind of campaigning is unacceptable," McCain told NBC's "Today" Show.

Operation Chaos within the Republican Party ??? That ad speaks volumes...it needs to be aired for the good of NC and the good of the US. McCain should realize that HIS BASE supports the ad fully!
Dear Linda,

Thank you for having the courage to do what is ‘right’. That ad is the truth and you are speaking for the GOP base. I am quite concerned with John McCain’s lack of support for the people who want to vote for him. Your ad educates the voter about Obama, his judgement, and gives one an idea of where he stands and where he comes from. Thank you. Keep it up!
It is about time folks face up to the TREASONOUS TRAITOR JOHN MC CAIN.
He is Lucifer in Sheeps clothing.
HE is out of touch and a mentally disturbed man.
I am forced to vote for McCain, but he always seems to find a way to irritate me.
In general, the GOP seems to rarely show any gumption in challenging Democrats at their weakest point. McCain does not seem serious enough to really get into a fight with the Leftists.
I say, good for the NC GOP for running this ad. The Dem candidates for governor in NC do have to explain their support for a candidate who listened to anti-white rhetoric for 20 years, yet refused to disown the cleric who continues to repeat his hateful speech.
I see Johnny Mac continues to shoot Republicans first while kissing the asses of the left ...
Why would he do such a thing? Does he or does he not want to win this election? Does he think he can beat Obama by being a nice guy and all cute and cozy with him when he knows damn well the Obama camp is going to smear him?
Do you think Obama would demand an negative ad about McCain to be cancelled or call his party out of touch over it? Of course not.
It’s looking like McCain doesn’t have the balls to go after Obama.
Correction......
I accuse Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain accused North Carolina's Republican Party of being "out of touch with reality".
Yes, there is nothing lovable or admirable about John McCain. imo, he is a mental case. Others say he is the Manchurian Candidate.
If you take a siesta from your angst you might see the wisdom of his thinking about the ad as:
1. Charlotte and Raleigh television market already begin rejecting the ad--two stations nixed it this morning.
2. It has the benefit only of the "race card" in a Southern state where "sit ins" began back in the Civil Rights early 1960s.
3. It insulates McCain from the anti-Catholicism endorsement.
Reagan would simply have issued a statement pointing out his love for this country. That would have stood in opposition to Wright’s statement and voters could easily draw the distinction. McCain can’t do that but he can attack fellow Republicans.
...Zip it John....we NC Republicans don’t need you to tell us what to do...go mind your own business.
Who knows, perhaps my voting 3rd Party this year for the first time in 40 years won't be a total loss. It just might be the beginning.
“Operation Chaos within the Republican Party ??? That ad speaks volumes...it needs to be aired for the good of NC and the good of the US. McCain should realize that HIS BASE supports the ad fully!”
McCain needs to shut his yap and let the “Maverick” NC Republicans do what they are doing as he is too stupid to do the right thing.
As Rush pointed out yesterday, McCain can lie and trash Mitt but not tell the truth about Liberal Democrats.
McCain almost had my vote but each day I can bare to hear him speak I am repulsed at what spews from his mouth.
VOTE 3rd party and screw McCain because he is going to screw conservatives for sure.
I am done with McCain. Good luck, buddy. My sentiments exactly. I thought for a brief period, recently, that I could force myself to vote for him because of his promise to nominate originalists to the USSC and because he is against the Fairness Doctrine, but I have come to see that if we vote for him, the Rockefeller wing will only push more like him on us. John McCain is what is wrong with the GOP and he should not be encouraged.
This is a NC ad aimed at two dems running for Guv in NC, McCain needs to mind his own freaking business.
John McCain, turning the electoral map blue one state at a time.
