Exit Polls Show Many Party Voters Could Back McCain
The long, bitter contest between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama seems to be taking a toll on the enthusiasm that once permeated the Democratic electorate.
Exit polls of Pennsylvania Democrats Tuesday found that roughly one in three voters had serious concerns about at least one of the presidential contenders.
SIGNS OF TROUBLE
Worry for Democrats: Exit polling in Pennsylvania reveals deep splits that could hurt the party's chances in November. Going Negative: Many voters thought both candidates unfairly attacked one another. Time to Heal? The fall election is more than six months away, giving Democrats a chance to unify behind their nominee.A quarter of voters said they would be dissatisfied if Sen. Clinton were the nominee; an even greater number said they would be dissatisfied if it is Sen. Obama, according to results from the exit poll conducted for the National Election Pool.
Perhaps even more worrying for the Democrats: One in four Clinton supporters said they would vote for Sen. John McCain if Sen. Obama is the Democratic nominee. Sixteen percent of Obama backers said they would choose Sen. McCain over Sen. Clinton.
To be sure, the poll of 2,270 voters, taken at 40 polling places across the state, was conducted after six weeks of attacks and counterattacks aimed from one Democrat at the other. The fall election is still more than six months away, giving Democrats time to unify behind their eventual nominee.
Still, Tuesday's polling included some troublesome findings for Democrats.
About one-third of voters said Sen. Clinton isn't in touch with "people like you." About the same number said Sen. Obama isn't.
More than four in 10 voters said Sen. Clinton isn't honest and trustworthy.

Ok, so expand on that premise. Say Obama DOES get the nomination and a riot in Colorado is avoided this August.
We had near riot situations in 2000 and 2004 as Democrat/Anarchist/Communist elements raged against the tallied results.
If McCain wins over Obama, there is just as likely to be a riot as there is in Colorado. The puppet masters are hoping for it. End game is the destruction of our Constitutional form of government. A revolution that ushers in Socialism. Have people never paid attention to the pinko rhetoric of the 1960s that IS the mainstream movers and shakers of today’s DNC?
Thank the Clintons for forever ending our nation’s legacy of a peaceful transition of power.
And what, pray tell, might that be?
10 out of 10 IS more than 4 out of 10. They just aren’t saying how many more than 4 out of 10...
Yep. Obama's sure hoping for it - calling for it, really - and no doubt he has his "people" working feverishly on it.
Stats last night, dude - this is awesome:
23% of Hillary’s voters go to McCain if she loses
16% stay home
16% of Barry’s got to McCain if he loses
13% stay home
This was on the crawl on FNC last night.
PENNSYLVANIA voters?? The authors aren't listening to Rush.
Of course Rush, will take credit for operation chaos.
cracks me up Rush, see this coming, and makes it seem like he did it. Gotta love RUSH.
From last week’s DUmmie FUnnies - calling him “Barry” is racist,
because “Barry” is a term of disrespect, and he’s #000000.
I call him Barry out of disrespect, yes, but because he’s a “typical liberal person”, not because he’s #000000.
(#000000 MUST be racist in and of itself because it demeans the color with such a low number)
Luck? I don’t know...he’s just the only Republican candidate that we could have possibly put up this year. If there was a more conservative candidate, the Dems would use that to unite the party. The fact that McCain is a viable alternative to the moderate Dems who don’t like either of those two ultra liberal Dems is the only possible way we could win this year. That’s a fact. If the Dems had put up ONE moderate attractive candidate, they would have won in epic proportions.
It they lose come November, and right now this is what I personally think is going to happen, I wouldn’t want to be in the DNC offices on election night. There will be many a career ruined.
and I used to think that LOOONG campaigns were a very bad thing and were only in place to prop up the MSM with advertising bucks. But this one has really has a constructive purpose.
Jeez....pretty soon it will be racist to LOOK at a black person. That’s how the stars act....I read that Mariah Carey or MAdonna FORBIDS anyone to look directly at them. I’m getting pretty fed up with this race card BS.
This reminds me of the "sexual harassment standards" on some campus a while back.
It was considered sexual harassment to make eye contact, or to refuse to make eye contact with a female.
I take these statistics with a grain of salt. Remember not too long ago how conservative Republicans whined how they’d stay home if McCain was nominated?
The fact is that the Dems will pull together when their choice is made. At least McCain will be a viable alternative to Hillary supporters. Just like when it comes to pulling that lever in November...if it’s between McCain and either of those two...most Conservatives will vote for McCain..because they love this Country.
How about a party revolution?
?? I thought he was moving more toward the middle in order to keep the conservatives who plan on choosing him over Obama and Clinton from staying home?
McCain was elected fairly and squarely..there will be no party revolution. The talk of Dem revolution is if the nomination is given to Hillary although Obama is ahead.
There will be no Republican revolution...that ship has sailed...at least for now.
Some people add their nicname in place of their middle name.
Would it be OK to refer to him as Barak “Barry” ?
I think it has a nice ring.
There's no comparison. McCain isn't the ideal candidate but he's miles ahead of the other choices. I mean what've we got here? Like the one commentator said, you've got a candidate who is a b*tch and a lawyer married to a lawyer, or a candidate who is a lawyer married to a b*tch who is a lawyer. Some choice there, huh.
Both Democrats are whack left socialists....that’s all anyone needs to know.
