SAN ANGELO A Texas judge on Sunday ordered law enforcement officials to immediately confiscate all cell phones in the possession of FLDS women and children now housed in temporary quarters here. "I just called to say, hi. They are about to collect the phones, I think," one soft-spoken FLDS woman said during a telephone call to another member of the Fundamentalist LDS Church who was outside of the shelter. "I don't like what they're doing."
Several of the women inside the shelters spoke by cell phone to the Deseret News on Saturday to describe the living conditions there. Children could be heard crying in the background of each conversation. The News published an article on Sunday, quoting the women who complained there was no privacy and that their children were getting sick.
FLDS faithful outside the shelter are convinced Sunday's court order is a direct result of the women speaking to the newspaper.
"This is nothing more than retaliation of Child Protective Services to punish those who were disclosing what is really happening behind the walls of this concentration camp," said Don, an FLDS member who asked that his last name not be used. "These are my family members."

Don’t let this distraught woman fool you. She’s only upset cause she’s gonna have to pick up the slack for the rest of the women. :)
So we should allow burka clad women to have driver's license photos taken in full covering (to not offend their religious sensibilities?) Should we cease breaking up terror cells because, well after all they are just living their faith of killing the infidels? It is a very slippery slope both ways....
I'm rooting for the authorities to have an attitude that if a crime has been committed, go after the criminals.
I'm rooting for the survival of an America where we don't just confiscate things because they might be misused. (Turn in your guns, please.)
I'm rooting for a populace that serves as a watchdog, to keep authorities in their rightful place, where their crime-fighting doesn't become overzealous and trample the rights of citizens they might consider odd or too religious or different.
And I'm rooting for FR to stop looking so much like DU, filled with statist garbage.
We are tormented by the real likely hood that we will never be able to stop this cycle of sex enslavement and child rape, and assignment to old polygamists, and you guys root for the cult, and mock the legal efforts to bring them to justice.
Nope. I mock--and more than mock--illegal efforts. Legal efforts toward justice, I applaud heartily.
We don't know the contents of the warrant. We don't know the details of what was found in the searching/ransacking. And--though this is heresy to the lynch mob--we don't know which of these mothers is guilty. (Heck, even the lynch mob can't agree if they are "guilty criminal perverts" or "brainwashed innocent tools" or whatever!) But if we are not vigilant during and after the incident in ensuring that it was properly conducted, then we invite abuse in the future.
I dont get it.
Try looking to history for that answer. You'll find that those who give up liberty and rights for law and order will soon find themselves on the bottom side of a boot or the wrong side of the law.
Wanting justice to protect the innocent does not mean a person is against punishing the guilty.
So child rape is protected if it's claimed to be religious? Polygamy? Welfare fraud?
How about sharia law? Cutting of people's hands for stealing? Stoning women for the crime of being with a non relative male? Or being raped? FGM?
Human sacrifice has been practiced as part of religions around the world throughout history. Is that OK since it's part of someone's religious beliefs? Or animal sacrifice?
Do you really think that all those activities should be protected by the First Amendment? Do you think that those sorts of things are what the Founding Fathers intended to protect?
Can I do anything I feel like whenever I want and avoid prosecution by claiming that it's part of exercising my religion?
BUMP... what you said... every word.
So we just allow this situation to continue?
Exactly how else do you propose to handle it?
Nobody who has condemned the government for how it’s handled this situation has offered as much as one idea of how to do it better or offered any alternatives at all.
The situation is not continuing- the children are out of there. If laws and procedures are not followed then the guilty in this mess will eventually be set free to repeat the crimes. All I want is for the authorities to do this the right way, it will help them convict the guilty and it will in turn protect the rights of all of us.
Warren Jeffs was already tried & is now waiting to be tried in other states. Where I hope he is found guilty as well. I think I have read enough to say that I find this cult to be dangerous to the children. If the overage women want to go back in & understand what they are doing I have no problem with that. However I have a huge problem with the rape of minors even if its their religion.
This cult is no mystery, the law has been trying to stop the child molesting and the abusive cult polygamy for longer than you and I have been alive, several states have worked out new strategies to get to them, that is how they got Jeffs.
Now that the 10,000 member group has spread into a compound in Canada the effort is international.
There isn't any disagreement on what they do, that is open knowledge and has been proved, the challenge is to figure out how to stop them.
We all know how difficult it is to pull this off legally, but there is no question about what they are doing behind those walls and those walls also exist in other states and Canada.
By the way this unit was Warren Jeffs most elite unit, every one, including the children were handpicked for maximum loyalty to him.
A letter from perverts that think it is just dandy to rape little girls.
... ...... ... ... ...
Okay, so these women are perverts in your mind. Are they criminals?
These are women who have been taught from youth, that the sexual abuse they endure is a mandate from GOD and his PROPHET. Warren Jeffs had claimed to be that Prophet.
This cult FLDS, teaches their adults that they can have God’s Grace for raping little girls, as long as they are loyal to the cause. The more loyal, the more little girls to rape.
It is then up to each HUSBAND to ensure the women and girls are loyal, as well.
These women and children are taught, through experience, that if they do not submit to this perversion, they will be traded off to a much ‘worse husband’, for women and children who will.
The Government LEO’s are trying to convince these women to testify against their religious and family leaders.
Those leaders are in touch with them by cell phone, telling them what will happen to them if they do.
That is why the LE’s are taking away cell phones. They are giving the women and children all the rights possible, without endangering their lifes, and while the evidence and testimony is being gathered.
Put yourself in these women’s and children’s shoes.
For them, It’s HELL IF YOU DO, HELL IF YOU DON’T.
To quote you to another here:
“Why dont you learn what youre talking about here?
Perhaps you could google up some information on the United States and learn about our country first.”
Apparently you have a problem with the Bill of Rights?
Personally, I treasure this as the premier difference between the US and the rest of the mobs of this world.
Panties? She's not even showing her socks, if any.
It sounds like you just don’t know much about the group, start googling for things including the initial warrant and what they found in the compound and so on.
Find out who the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ are, you can google FLDS.
I know that the story only just started not too many days ago, but there is much information available including many threads here at FR where much of it has been posted.
Question: Where did I say any of those things?
Answer: I didn’t.
If these women are criminals, then charge them. If they are not, then don’t blow the case or open a case for them against the state by denying them their rights.
And since it was unclear to you, I’ll ask it again...Why can’t those who want to ignore the rights of these women go to some banana republic where they can live their little fantasy, where the government can do as it pleases, and can define the guilty without trial, and can confiscate anything at anytime, etc., and just leave America alone to prosecute and punish the criminals while protecting the rights of all?
So child rape is protected if it’s claimed to be religious? Polygamy? Welfare fraud?

Answer the questions please.
The Government LEOs are trying to convince these women to testify against their religious and family leaders.
Those leaders are in touch with them by cell phone, telling them what will happen to them if they do.
That is why the LEs are taking away cell phones.
bump for a clear analysis, sir.
But the women are charged in that affair, in fact as far as I can determine, no one has been charged with anything except interfering with the raid. A raid BTW, that was conducted with the use of an Armored Personnel Carrier.
Even the Taliban and the Wahabbies of Saudi don't make their women wear long johns under those burkas.
Answer it yourself... rape is not protected... you know this. Murder and your other list of perversions are not protected.. you know that. Quit trying to obfuscate the issue - no one here condones the abuse of children or women. Get a grip.
Those who are arguing with you are arguing your willingness to throw out the rights held by all citizens, so that you can stone the rapists. You wish to give the government powers they do not hold in this country. I think YOU need to Google or better yet go to the library or take a class that will inform you of our inalienable rights as citizens of this fair country.
Oh and you and others need to quit saying that those of us who are not ready to do as you suggest, condone the rape of children... you know we do not. Your inference that those who wish to see justice properly served are equal to those charged is insulting to say the least.
Actually not all that ugly. Reminds me a bit of some of the stuff my grandmother wore. But grandma's dresses were light prints in the summer, and topped with a bonnet most of the time.
But it does not look like something for even springtime in Texas. (Except this year, what with the effects of global warming and all, it's been a cool spring in most places)
