Mayhill Fowler has more from Obama's remarks at a San Francisco fundraiser Sunday, and they include an attempt to explain the resentment in small-town Pennsylvania that won't be appreciated by some of the people whose votes Obama's seeking:
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them...And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
That's pretty broad list of things to explain with job loss.
It's no wonder they call all right wingers biased, the smell of bias coming off themselves is going straight to their heads.
Sorry..do I sound ticked...oh no I'm not ticked, I'm just furious. It must be the job loss, not.
Excellent.
Operation Chaos!
He’s making false generalizations. A lot of Democrats were ready to vote for Obama until Obama and Rev. Wright came under media scrutiny. His candidacy is not a victim of nativism.
According to Bob, Obama's not far from wrong. Keep digging! Keep digging!
Have you ever heard of the product "Cling Away? ; )
Especially once these fools get elected.
And all those people that are different from me? It seems like everybody is different from me.
As long as there are 2 people residing on Earth, there is going to be differences.., after all, humans are capable of reason via thought.
Besides, my God tells me to love them.
When is the last time you two have talked?
Oh well.
Oh, well??
Neither "democrats' are ....
They're socialists.
No one seems to want to identify them as socialists, just because (apparently) they're using the Democrat party as a vehicle, but make no mistake ... Both x42bwitch and Obama are Socialists.
Their aim is the destruction of a free America and neither should see the inside of the chief executive office.
Not even to visit.
Thomas Sowell said it best: \
John McCain himself could not convince me to for for him, but Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama could.
No .............. we are .............. for allowing it un-challenged.
I know...I can be a little complicated in an atypical kind of way.
I don’t know who Obama’s campaign managers are, but they are IDIOTS! They have an ad out which bashes the pharmaceautical companies. Thousands of Pennsylvanians work for this industry because: 1. it pays well; 2. it has great fringe benefits, and 3.it contributes to the health and well-being of millions of Americans.
To bash this industry in PA. makes as much sense as bashing gunowners, churchgoers, an those who welcome LEGAL but not ILLEGAL aliens.
Ahhh, is he saying that Big Daddy Gov't is supposed to 'regenerate' these towns...
What about the state and local gov't and the people?
Take Loring, Maine, for example - way up north in no-man's land.
For decades, the only thing up there for jobs/posperity was Loring Air Force Base. When that was closed, the predictions were dire.
But being still overwhelmingly republican folk up there, they rolled their sleeves up and hammered out some plowshares.
The entire county at the time of the Base Closure, was only about 10,000. Up in the cold, isolated (as to businesses/jobs) northernmost county of Maine, the loss of 1,100 Base related civilian jobs portended disaster.
It took time and a whole lot of work - blood, sweat and tears = and cooperation, but they replaced those jobs with 1,400 civilian jobs.
A combination of this episode, Operation chaos, and the alleged unwillingness to pay walking around money in Philly could turn the PA primary into a rout.
“Hes making false generalizations. A lot of Democrats were ready to vote for Obama until Obama and Rev. Wright came under media scrutiny. His candidacy is not a victim of nativism.”
Obama said:
“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
It’s also a distant arrogance, elite urban liberal/non-urban. It also is a convenient blaming away of his own guilt for supporting positions he knows will further those ills he bashes others for, eg., job losses.
He’s also demeaning of religion here. I’ve suspected that the big story about his “religion” is any religiosity he claims is phony.
Hillary or any shadow group supporting her should put that quote on ads in PA and NC NOW.
And if that doesn’t happen, the ones supporting McCain should be all over it too.
That quote alone could possibly cost Obama PA, MI, Ohio, FL in the fall.
