NOVI PAZAR -- A 9th century Serb Orthodox Church in Novi Pazar was last night sprayed with offensive graffiti.
The priests at the St. Peter church reported this to the police and then informed the media. It is unclear from Beta news agency's report if ethnic or religious intolerance was behind the incident.
The church walls were sprayed with offensive and vulgar messages, the priests said, and asked the police to urgently apprehend the perpetrator or perpetrators, which remain unknown.
Meantime the Riaset, the seat of the Islamic Community of Serbia, led by Adem Zilkić, condemned this incident in the strongest terms, it was reported.
The Riaset added that a desecration of any religious structure "sows the seeds of unrest", and that, "according to the Koran", it is "worse sin than murder".
The Riaset also stressed it has good relations with the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), and condemned the incident that took place in the multi-ethnic Sandak, saying that "those who did it do not mean well to their people".
"Bosniaks and Serbs have for years shared this common space by living in peace and tolerance, successfully resisting all temptations so far," the Islamic organization said.
The St. Peter (Svetog Petra) church in Novi Pazar was built in the 9th century, and is the oldest Orthodox church in the Balkans.
The "we don't know if it's ethnic or religious intolerance" nonsense is typical B92 Soros nonsense.
bump for more Balkans mess.
...
The picture vanished on me. You will see the church if you go to the link and look at the photos both in the 8th and 9th rows down, far left side.
Distressing news.
So when the Taliban blew up those ancient Buddhist statues in March of 2001 prior to blowing up the WTC in 2001, they committed an act worse than murder?
Did this Imam condemn the destruction of those statues?
While it appears the Religion of Peace is involved here, let’s give props to the Riaset for condemning the desecration. It’s unfortunate we likely won’t hear anything on whether the Riaset walks the walk.
Kosta’s gonna give you s**t for calling Rashka “Sandzak”. It’s like calling Kosovo “Kosova” or Knin “Krajina” and not Dalmatia :)
It's B92, what do you expect? They have a whole section dedicated to "Unrest in the Sandzak" -- even when there isn't any "unrest" --but B92 will be is ready when there is!
I agree. These Zilkic Muslims are like the Gorani Muslims were in Kosovo in their relations with Serbia -- like "Yeah, we're Muslims but we aren't here to make trouble or be a problem. We'll blend in." Unfortunately for the Gorani, the Muslim Albanians hate that about them and drove many of them out of Kosovo.
However, can anyone tell me why we are supporting the Kosovars against the Serbian people? The Serbs are Christian and were there long before the muslims came in the 1400's. The area is a hot bed of drug running terrorist activity so what the hell are we doing?
No.
Actually, the Albanians predate the Serbs in the Balkans by a long, long time. However, they were all Christian prior to the Ottoman invasion. 30% of Albanians still are nominally Christian.
....and then they say be civil. We need another Crusade.
This is the question that should and will haunt America in the future.
Correct. However the Albanians certainly do NOT predate the Serbs in Kosovo. Over the last century they have become a majority, due to their astounding birthrate and immigration from Albania and surrounding regions.
Should you require a rough analogy, the Mexicans of our Southwest will do fine. They certainly predate the Anglos in the region. A small native population, swelled by illegal immigration and a high birthrate has made them into a majority over the past 50 years. Kosovo=Aztlán.
The difference? The Spain lost the territory to Mexico. Then the Mexicans ceded and sold their territories to us. At that time, the territories were very remote and the number of Mexicans very low, just a few thousand throughout the Southwest.
Like the Mexicans in some ways, Albanians prefer to settle in and dominate by numbers those areas surrounding their homeland, rather than develop their own country.
Oh Please..........what a crock. If it were any other religion except orthodox christian, there would be no question.
