Daily Kos Attacking Charlton Heston on His Passing

Posted on April 6, 2008

I guess we shouldn’t expect any sense of decorum from Kossacks, but it is pretty lame that they had to unleash their hatred only minutes after the announcement of the passing of famed American actor Charlton Heston. A Daily Kos “diarist” named doriangz started out calling Heston a “gun-nut” and ending with his life and causes being considered “political nutdouchebaggery,” and the incivility just flowed like the opening of a damn from Kos posters’ keyboards after that. Not much respect for a man who’s film career spanned many decades, who marched with Martin Luther King, and fought to uphold our Constitution.

One poster said that Heston tore into the “victims of Columbine,” one Marcus Tullius said he laughed when Jerry Falwell died and that Heston’s death made the world a better place. And Fairy Tale echoed that with a post that said, “Things are already getting better in America” now that Heston was dead. RandySF said that he was sorry but that he “can’t think of anything nice” to say about Heston. Aqualad08 seemed to think that if there were “no guns in heaven” that would make it “hell” for Heston.

And they were just getting warmed up.

Then, we always have to have the “he’s a crappy actor” types like poster jazzmaniac and the ones that have no respect, like ohcanada who said, “As we sow.. I didn’t respect him in life..and I won’t in death.” Then FischFry jumped in to say that he assumed that mention of the Heston film “A Touch of Evil” was really a description of Heston himself.

And, predictably, there is the foul mouthed type that we have all come to associate so specifically with uncivil leftists, too. PerfectStormer posted a loving “So long, motherf***er” when he heard the news of Heston’s death.

But remember, these are the same sort of people who claim that it is they that are the more “compassionate,” more “caring,”, and more “civilized” in our society. Well, if the compassion they displayed for Charlton Heston is any indication, we are in more trouble than we thought… either that or the left has no real compassion at all.

I favor the later, don’t you?

Still, there were several posters that were chagrined by the hate and uncivil postings by their fellow lefties. So, at least some of the Kos posters were sorry to hear of Heston’s passing and upset at the ignorance of the other posters.

But, all the vitriol is sadly to be expected from the more “loving” left, unfortunately. I can only imagine how the media will treat him over the next few days. Who can doubt that their compassion will quickly fade to be replaced by sniping and attacks of this iconic and quintessentially American personality?

read FR comments on Metzenbaum’s passing.

They are just as disgusting.

I remember one exchange on DU a long time ago when several nutjobs were strutting around saying it's time to take up arms against the evil Repukes, start the revolution.

Another poster questioned the wisdom of this, because the Repukes have all the guns, and they actually know how to load them.

The strutters kind of slunk away to other topics after that.

And there is nowhere near the level of profanity ANYWHERE on FR. Leftists seem unable to express themselves without resorting to the basest profanity.

Heston was one of the greatest actors ever and lived a very good life. It has been very sad to wake up to this news this morning. May he rest in peace. I can’t imagine why anybody would want to say anything negative about Heston.

There is no moral standard below which the Kos kids will not go.

I can just see those liberals trying to pry his gun out of his ‘cold dead hands’ like a bunch of monkeys trying to open a coconut.

THANK YOU for posting that photo. I'm going to show it to my children, who are moreno (my daughter's a little lighter in color than my son, but both have the benefit of turning completely brown in the sun, unlike me, who burns...)

I was just having this discussion with my son the other day. Some kid in his class tried to get some other kids to call a little black girl "n$g%e#". Rob didn't understand what it meant but doesn't call other kids names. I had that discussion with him a long time ago and explained it was best to treat all kids nicely. Later on in life those kids might become their best friends and they didn't need that between them.

Anyway, the other kid didn't get anyone to call the girl the name, so he did it himself. BIG TROUBLE involving the Vice Principle giving him a major reprimand. The kid was terrified and the other kids in class saw him get in huge trouble. I had to have a talk with Rob about how some people hate for no reason and stuff, and again, not to call people names no matter what. Judge on behavior, not ethic or racial appearance unless it's out of bounds and he'd know what that is. Anyways, a bunch of his pals and my daughters are black/latino, mostly Dominican and Puerto Rican. Their folks make some fine food, (and they share!) which is what I've taught Rob to look for from people from other countries. ; )

So this is great to see someone I respected so much marching carrying a wonderful saying quoted from Thomas Jefferson's work, who is our family's hero.

You are correct. Tolerance and open-mindedness was purged from the left thanks to political correctness. Political correctness imposed a Leninist-Stalinist style of censorship. You can be leftist on most issues but be moderate on one issue and you will be purged for your “deviationism” (such as what happened to Joe Liberman). Bill Cosby is an honest leftist who says things that do not conform to the politically correct orthodoxy of victimization, and he is reviled by the hard-core leftists. Some of the moonbats even hate Hillary Clinton because she is one degree less radical than Obama and she exhibits common sense on a few issues (she said she would not have talks with the Iranian dictator, and this drove the moonbats even battier). Charlton Heston supported the Second Amendment and that enraged the Stalinists who want to impose a well-armed police state.

IMHO Chuck Heston would not expect any better from the Liberal Democrats.

As he said once about Bill Clinton... "America doesn't trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don't trust you with our guns!"

Why does anyone frequent the Daily Kos?

To revel in Stalinism -- for those leftists who find that mere Leninism isn't enough.

I will never understand the mindset of those who are quick to comdemn someone who has died.

Simple respect is what's required.

Loved him in Ben Hur.

He was a patriot. God Bless Mr. Heston!

Leftists are so convinced of their own superiority and that they're not only right, but "good," so anyone who disagrees with them isn't just wrong, but evil. So this gives them the "justification" to hate, and as history has proven over and over again, to kill.

Well put. There is a misconception that the left is indifferent to morality when the left is actually hypermoral and very willing to make the most extreme moral judgements about people. It's telling that in their dancing-on-the-grave threads they invariably wish that the dead conservative burns in Hell.

Daily Kos are a group of ignorant cowards. You know in ancient times, "liberal" meant "advocate of freedom," not "socialist totalitarian." Heston was the former; Kos is the latter.
