OK everyone, it's time for my quarterly "What Are You Reading Now" post.
I like to get a feel for what Freepers are reading these days. It can be anything...a best seller, a literary classic, a trashy pulp novel, a scientific journal, etc.
Do not demean this thread with posts like "I'm reading this Thread right now". It became un-funny a long time ago.
I'll start. I've just started "One Square Mile Of Hell: The Battle For Tarawa" by John Wukovitz.
Rather than a minute by minute account of the battle, it takes a more personalized view of the battle by interviewing a few combatants and the families of those who died in the battle. I wasn't sure I'd like this format at first - but am really starting to get into this book.
Well...what are YOU reading right now?
Forgotten Armies: The Fall of British Asia, 1941-1945-by Christopher Bayly, Tim Harper
Hamilton’s Blessing: The Extraordinary Life and Times of Our National Debt-by John Steele Gordon
The Miraculous Fever-Tree: Malaria and the Quest for a Cure That Changed the World-Fiammetta Rocco
Kim by Kipling.
The best is yet to come, as is the worst so far as the series is concerned. Personal favorites are "Flashman and the Great Game", "Flashman and the Indians", "Flashman and the Dragon". Weakest, IMHO, are "Flashman's Lady" and "Flashman on the March".
BTW, Fraser died last New Years, so we'll never know what Flashman did during the U.S. Civil War. Disappointing.
Tea leaves. Things are not looking too hot right now according to them.
The Red and the Black by Stendhal (in English).
Maigret by Simenon (in French).
The Anita Blake series of books by Laurell K Hamilton, Quilting magazines, and the Journal of nursing periodicals.

I know, I know. :)
Chalk up another one for “Liberal Facism” by Jonah Goldberg.
Recently finished “The Appeal” by John Grisham and “John Adams” is on deck as soon as I finish the Goldberg book.
“Just dont listen to her on the topic of sex within marriage.”
Why?
The Battle of the Ruhr Pocket by Leo Kessler, 1989.
It is an interesting read, a little raw, evidently there was a lot more massacres by front line troops than I realized.
I’m liking it so far. I had a hard time finding the Copper Scroll and just finished that couple of weeks ago.
I’ve been reading Dead Heat before I go to sleep. I’ve been staying up too late reading this week!
Coulter: got 2 of her books for Christmas. Now reading “If Dems Had Any Brains They’d Be Republicans.”
Up next: The REAGAN DIARIES
“Mothman and other curious encounters” by Loren Coleman
write later
I enjoyed that series. It’s been a long time since I read them. Now that you’ve reminded me of them, I should re-read them.
Had to read it in high school..... It was wordy, but I still enjoyed it a lot more than Hawthorne!
