Idol contestant, Kristy Lee Cook, brings down the American Idol House tonight with rendition of Lee Greenwood's mega hit: |
Ramiele - yes I really like her too. Such a big voice from a small girl! Her voice is wonderful but she is not choosing the right songs to showcase her voice. Don’t you want to just call them up to tell them that? LOL
You and I agree on Mr. Dreds! He has potential but hasn’t dared to step out of his box since that one really good performance.
The talent has been amazing this year. They just need someone to keep reminding them each week to GO FOR IT!
You, my wife and I seem to have the same take on it.
Clothing, hair, make-up and songs, yes I’d love to whisper some suggestions. No doubt about it...
Ramiel’s voice is very nice. She has a lovely face. She has that behive swirl over her forehead that destroys her looks. They’ve shown her with other hairstyles from the past and a few cute caps that make her an instant super-star (looks-wise), but nobody is telling her. She looks fantastic in some of her clips, and then they show her when she sings and it’s a real let down. Showing more forehead really helps her. As it is, her face looks too round, and that contributes to her looking a little pudgey.
Kristy Lee’s hair is very nice, but when she incorporates the tight curls like she did in her first audition, it boosts her looks by 50%. I was amazed at the two looks, straight hair and that crimped curl look. She is choosing the wrong songs. It’s killing her.
Sayesha is so good. She has an incredible voice and she’s attractive too. She MUST start picking better songs. She could also do with better cute clothing choices. My other advice to her would be to mix up the songs a little. Sing some songs from outside her racial segment. When you narrow your selections to those most greatly apprecaited by 1/10th of the populace, you’re limiting the number of folks who are going to identify with your music and become your fan. I’m not saying this to denegrate some of the fantastic songs out of that segment, but I think you know what I mean. This girl should be connecting with a broad audience and I don’t think she is as well as she could.
There was a black girl a few seasons back that continued to choose very narron segment songs. It cost her and I hated to see it. She was doing a good job, it’s just that the songs didn’t appeal to everyone.
As for the tatood girl, I think she is blowing it. Her song choices have been rather bad too many times. She just got more tatoos on her fingers and they show up every time she sings. Like it or not, those are going to turn a lot of folks off. I’d play down the massive tatoo on her arm, but she’s got to do what she thinks is best. I don’t think pidgeon holing yourself in a competition like this is smart. And her song last night ended in total disaster. She should be leading right now, and her poor decisions are the only reasons why she isn’t IMO.
Well, enough of that. These kids have been given an incredibly opportunity, and I sure would hate to see any of them not tap into it every way they could.
It’s been nice talking with you.
Not to mention David Cook’s hair! He can rock, but he does need a change in hairstyle. It seems as they get closer to the end, they do change for the better.
You are right about Ramiele. That behive swirl does not flatter her and the caps and other hairstyles really show off her pretty face. Clothes, hair, make-up and songs can make a big difference.
I think the other blonde, Brooke looks fantastic whether her hair is straight or curly. Brooke is amazing also but the past 2 songs have really bummed out. Kristy Lee looks better with the curls though. I really hope she makes it through this round. If next week is a nose dive, then she should go.
Syesha has an incredible voice. I agree with you that it would help to sing songs outside the racial segment and ones that are more popular, recognizable yet make it her own. I think she did that last night. I believe Latoya London might be the the black girl you are referring to. I loved her and thought she went way too soon. Those songs just didn’t appeal to everyone and it was a shame. How about Chikezie? I think he is really good but last night’s song was so old and boring.
Carly - tattooed girl, I really like her. I loved the song she sang last night and thought she did it well but only half of that last note was good. I kind of cringed and thought OH NO, you almost blew the whole song! I heard she had a million dollar contract and blew it but I can’t help but like her as a singer and person. I see what you are saying about the big tattoo and even the ones on her fingers but a rocker is a rocker and hopefully people would overlook that. Hell, some people think they are cool!
So many things to take into consideration. Song choice is very important. This is an incredible opportunity for these kids and they are pretty young so it must be hard to think about what you are going to sing, if you are making the right decision and doing the best you can do. A very tiring schedule for sure but yes, it will be tougher if and when they become stars.
Ok, I think we analyzed just about every thing we possibly could for now! Hold on Kristy! Bye bye Mr Dreds? Nice chattting with you. We will be talking after the results.
Cook’s hair. Thank you. No kidding LOL.
I admit Brook is good. I really don’t connect with her. She’s a Carley Simon type, and I was never a big fan. I do think she has talent, and should appeal to many people.
Latoya London may have been her. I think that is right. I liked her. Right now, I really like Chikezie too. He’s done a lot better than I thought he would and I agree with your comments about last night. I agree with your comments about Carlie, or at least know where you’re coming from which means you’ve got some good points there.
Thanks again.
This has been fun and rather addictive. Geeez, we will be talking up until Idol at this rate! Seems like we agree on a lot and both have good points. GMTA!
I liked some Carly Simon songs but I can see what you mean about not connecting with Brooke because her being a Carly Simon type. After all, I am a hard rocker but like some lighter stuff. Brooke is very talented and could be in the top 3 or 4.
One more guy - Michael the dude from down under. When he sings Queen he is amazing. Would love to hear him sing INXS. At other times, he isn’t that good. How can you sing Queen (Freddie Mercury) one of the most unique and amazing voices and not be able to pull off other songs? Go figure.
The next few weeks will really be interesting. Thank you. This has been entertaining. Never thought I would be on Free Republic chatting about American Idol!
Once again, it’s as if we’re of a same mind. I agree with you. I am generally not a rocker. I do like the guy with the hair problem though. Last night’s performance was brilliant.
You take care.
Just one more thing. Care to venture a guess on the bottom 3? I do a list every week for my order of best to worst. My bottom 3 based on last night’s performances:
David Archuleta
Chikeize
Jason
I don’t think you’re too far off. You may have hit it on the head.
If we’re talking talent, I might switch Chikeize for Ramiele. He has had recent success and she hasn’t. There is the cuteness factor though and she may win due to that.
I would remind you that Carlie was in the bottom three last week, and may have blown it last night. It is possible she might round out the bottom too.
We will find out soon! It was hard for me between Chikieze and Ramiele. She was right above him. I really like her and her style of music better so that is why I went with her.
Yes, you could be absolutely correct about Carly. I put her up near the top because I loved that song and her voice, even with that mistake at the end. We shall see. Could be close or nowhere near!
Take care. Enjoy...
ooops I meant Ramiele was above Arhculeta
Here we go! Enjoy too.
As Meatloaf sang: 2 out of 3 ain’t bad! The right one didn’t go though! I was really surprised by Syesha but it was because of what you had said before. They all need to step it up now. We need some WOW performances!
I personally didn’t think Chikeze deserved to go. I was actually surprised by Sayesha also. And for Jason, he’s on borrowed time. I don’t like it when personality and or looks get someone through, and the dreadlock boy is skating while folks with more talent go home. Not good.
Like you say, it’s all on the line now. Raise the game or go home.
You take care.
No, I think Jason should have gone before Chikezie. Simon even pointed out that dreadlock boy is skating by. It drives me crazy too when someone stays based on their looks, likeability more than their singing ability and talent. We shall see if they bring it to the table next week or not. I hear it is country and Dolly Parton week. This could give Kristy a chance to shine again, if she chooses the right song and stays consistent throughout the song. Hope it won’t be too difficult for David Cook.
Take care. Talk to you next week.
I guess lil’ commie boy will have to sing something by the Dixie Chix.
LOL Oh my gosh, good thing I wasn’t drinking over the keyboard when I read that!
He even dresses like one. I liked him a little at first, thought he had sewn up with that voice. Then I noticed his song choices. I hope the “Sanjaya” vote doesn’t carry him all the way to the top! Imagine what he and his old man would do with that platform.
Yes, I liked Archuleta too and thought he had it made with his voice. Then in the past couple weeks, something changed and for the worse. I don’t even want to think what he and his old man would do with that platform. YIKES! I really think David Cook is the strongest right now. It could be the first time we finally have an American Idol Rocker. At least I hope. He has been consistent week after week and he is the real deal. No PC BS with him!
