Seacrest made a point this week -the following night-in reference to Chris Cornell when in first talking to Cook. Jackson, in his excitement, is the one that confused the issue. If you are up and down while watching, you are probably more apt to be watching during the judging then just before the talent appears. (like me)

. Am looking forward to some laughs here.

Am not a true Tracey Ullman fan, but think I might catch her first SHOWTIME show. I can't keep up with HBO's John Adams (will wait and watch it all together on dvd).

I heard Seacrest make that point that it was a Chris Cornell arrangement and then Randy mix it up. If they have votefortheworst.com you know they are also going to have to bash someone that is the front-runner. That’s OK, I continue to look forward to Cook’s performances because he is that good and very talented.

I thought Tracey Ullman was funny back in the day although not a big, big fan. Thanks for sharing that post and video excerpt. Might have to catch the show. Looks funny.

Did you watch Idol last night? What did you think?

I thought David Cook was the best, and I liked Brooke and Carly. Lil’ Commie did a nice job, but he’s still a commie.
If Cook can stay consistent, he SHOULD win but may get Daughtry’d anyway with the fickle voting.

I thought David Cook and Carly were awesome but I was really blown away by Michael Johns! That is the type of performance I knew he was capable of. I thought the same thing about Lil’ commie, that you did. Did a good job but now I have that in my mind about him and I can’t get it out! LOL

I agree with you about Cook. He may get Daughtry’d but I will start doing my part and voting for him. I haven’t voted for anyone by Kristy so far. David finally got a cool hairstyle!

Lil’ Commie

...is turning off a lot of the viewers. Without the song choice we, of course, recognize in its agenda, some are saying something is not right with that kid..the way he programs a smile, etc., they cannot put their finger on it but..overhearing a discussion the consensus is he can sing, would probably make some money in some music slot, but the cute puppy scenario is getting old, he's become annoying--bet on the Big Kids- Cook, Johns to make the most money. Kristy Lee will still also make money in country. Personality counts and she's a good student. Brooke kinda bores me, I know you like her, but I never clicked with her; Carly, great singer, but has a cliche image (a/k/a clothes), as The Man stated in her critique. Don't know how you change that at this mid time-line. Dreads had a good song choice, I thought; but is he a Today's Idol or regional artist whos sings ok and plays the guitar? Who can compare to THE Jimmy Buffett? So not a strong contender, but will make good news/rumor print in young teen "star" dopey entertainment magazines.

Good to see where some of the alumni are, financially they all have out-better than from whence they came. This is why I like the show, it topples the same "turn on the radio hear the same" artists that always secured the top slots because of the Corporate MONEY (DJs who are gifted $$-naw, is all legit now) that backed them in THE business, and opened no doors to hidden talents in America. Too little quick money or too many mouths to feed! Overexpose and get as much money out of "it" as quick as you can, comp and club til you drop (visibility is key) til young doped and boozed up 20 year olds, then kick them to the curb when they fail to the pressures thrust upon them. Next?

Competition is bad news for the OLD THINKING, CAUSE I AM MAKING TO MUCH MONEY, Entertainment Industry, good news for even self-starters via the Internet, iPod's, Apple that offer free or $.99 cent downloads (JayZ's hundred million dollar deal, although not new to the game, has those around him smarter than most)-Idol is giving the competition a run for the same money, like Fox gave the dinosaur NEWS media competition and changed the way the game is played, with the help of newer technology, of course.

“Competition is bad news for the OLD THINKING”

I like how much Carrie Underwood gets under Faith Hill’s skin!

I know where you’re coming from about Brooke. I just like her because she’s so authentically sweet. The judges could call her a no-talent skank and I think she’d just smile and say “OK, thank you Simon”.

Cook’s the man to beat right now.

Thanks for your apology and no problem at all. It was a little scary when I couldn’t get my FReep fix for the day! I kept checking back and checking back but it wasn’t working. Anything can happen on April Fool’s Day. Just hope it never happens again! LOL

David Cook was great again. I do think the guy is very talented. I thought Sayesha’s voice shone through even though she did make some mistakes. I think she is the dark horse that many have overlooked.

As for Mr. Dreadlocks, his departure is weeks overdue.

I thought Ramielle had a better voice than she demonstrated on the show. Her song selections were terrible. The keys she sang them in not playing to her strengths. She makes the same mistake most of the other women do at some point. They want to show the largest range possible, so they start out the songs in a low key. The first few verses you have to struggle to hear them. Then they transition to a higher key (or not) and it gets much much better. If they don't, some of them provide terrible performances, when they have the capability to pump out some incredible stuff, but don't.

I hate to see this. Ramielle should have lasted at last one more week, perhaps two or three. Instead she goes home and the guy with the least actually ability, Mr. Dreadlocks, doesn't even make the bottom three. That is very unfortunate. He is without question this year's Sanjaya.

Kristy Lee has a great voice, although she has more often than not picked the wrong song and just about forced the fans to vote her off. She is a great looking girl. She has a great voice. There's power behind it. She's basicly been given a Mazeratti and drives it around town like it's a 1972 dodge dart, clanking through the gears. It's a sad thing to watch. By the way, who dresses this chick? She's a cuttie, has that great long blond hair, and then she dresses like a 35 year old mother of eight who just came into the living room after doing five loads of laundry.

Kristy isn't the only one. She, Sayesha, Carly, Brook and Ramielle have pulled this routine too many times. Ramielle in particular couldn't get that hair thing right. During the interviews prior to the performance she'd have this cute little cap on, revealing a striking little cuttie that was seldom unwrapped when she gave her performances. With poor song selections, poor clothing choices and what seemed to be unintentional inattention to detail, these women seemed to me to be throwing away a great opportunity with both hands at times. Very sad.

David Cooks hair was better this time. He still hasn't hit his grove there IMO. Prior to this week it just looked like classic ‘girlie’ to me. I'm all for avant guard looks, but it just wasn't cutting it IMO.

Jason... where do you start. His hair looks worse than Cooks by a factor of ten. Who is he trying to be? He's got this persona thing going that doesn't work. He looks like a clown. Okay, I realize he is being voted back on each week, so I will admit that's just my opinion, but jeez kid, enough already. His performances are whiny, underpowered and simply not in the same league as the others, and I especially want to address Ramielle here. She had three times the talent this kid has. I just wish the thirteen year old girls had a few more brain cells hitting on all cylinders.

Michael Johns has hit his stride. It's nice to see. I've liked him from the start, but he has made some great song selections in the last few weeks and is really showing his strength. He's a likable guy. He has shown maturity when criticized without surrendering his views or being rude in the process. My one suggestion would be to upscale the clothing a bit. It's time for all the candidates to start dressing like the star they want to be crowned as in a few weeks. I realize he's going to always be a more casually dressed guy, but you can go casual in a manner that will maximize your appeal to your fans. And isn't that what it's really all about?

Every one of these folks needs to maximize their persona in every aspect of their being right now. Song selection, hair, apparel, shoes, accessories, makeup... this is it folks. Time to put up or have the fans shut you up.

Wow, you covered it all! Not much else to add. My money is on David Cook and Michael Johns, possibly Carly. Maybe Carly will take what Simon said to heart. She is an amazing singer and would hate the “clothes” to ruin it for her. I can’t believe I am going to say this, but maybe it is time for another guy to win to almost even up the score! Ok, only if it is Cook or Johns and definitley not cute lil’ puppy commie, Archuleta!

I have to say the same thing to you too! You covered it all and saved me from that long post. I agree with all that you said. You really hit the nail on the head here: "Every one of these folks needs to maximize their persona in every aspect of their being right now. Song selection, hair, apparel, shoes, accessories, makeup... this is it folks. Time to put up or have the fans shut you up."
Let's hope they all BRING IT ON from here on out.

Archuletta says it all when he says, “It has a great message.” That’s David in a nutshell, trying to save the nation for communism one song at a time. Although I’ve liked his presentations for vocal quality and presence, his preacher’s approach to the entertainment industry hits too close to home these days, with slanted propagandist message movies and do-gooder P.S.A.s the rage. It even exposes ‘shut up and sing’ not to be adequate enough. This kid and his ilk need to tone down the leftist ‘better world’ dogma a notch or twenty. What ever happened to love, the driving force of all kids his age? You mentioned that you can’t put a finger on what is wrong. That’s what is wrong. This is a seventeen year old kid obsessed with the matters that adults and humanity face. I realize that some kids and obsess on the problems of mankind, but this kid has taken it to a new level. (And not without two adults pumping so full of venom that it’s oozing out his ears.)

If you’re going to play the little innocent cherub routine, you can’t at the same time act as if you have all the answers. David comes out all bashful acting as if he’s this little innocent boy, untouched by the evil that is our nation (essentially), then tries to present himself as the authority of what ails the nation or the world. Which is it David? Are you a simpering idiot seventeen year old, or are you the sage of humankind here to educate and save us from ourselves. He is a contradiction within himself.

I’ve told my wife they can vote this shill out any time they like. I’ve had to relegate him to the category of communist propagandist, something I have no use for.

This kid’s parents disgust me to the max. Rather than let him grow up with an reasoned understanding of important issues, they have brainwashed him. They’ve turned him into this sad little pathetic ball of jello in the color, flavor and mold of their choice. It’s basically child abuse. Now he can’t compete with the other contestants in the relm of reasoned popular culture. He’s been turned into some sad combination of Lenin, Buffalo Springfield (What’s happening here), Bob Dylan and Al Gore, at least as it applies to judging society through jaundiced eyes, and devising wigged out fixes.

Very sad... he’s a cute kid with a lot of talent. And his folks have just about destroyed his ability to contribute to society in a positive manner.

Archuletta is an Idol-Bot. I really do not think he is a real live human. Look for a trace of "maverick" wires next show.

The week he was concerned about attending his prom and his friend (girl) just stared at him with not one ounce of “sweetness and nice”..when asked whom he would take; I thought what 17 year old guy is concerned about attending A PROM? MOST teenage boys would not even want to attend.

Great voice, but too programed, too serious, would never make it psychologically in the cold cruel entertainment world that awaits him....unless he is a Bot. He could seek more shelter, however, in a Boy Band.

BUT what do I really know about him; so could be 100% wrong! in my unsolicited analysis.

We’re definately thinking along the same lines. I think you’ve got a good point about survival for the kid if he were taken away from mom’s apron.
