The truth about the Black Liberation Theology taught by Reverend Wright at Obama's Church
JEFFHEAD.COM ^ | 22 March 2008 | Jeff Head

Posted on 03/22/2008 8:08:21 AM PDT by Jeff Head

Despite the efforts of most of the main stream media (and Obama himself) trying to spin the incidents regarding Barack Obama's preacher and spiritual advisor into something acceptable to Americans, and his speech regarding race, by doing some individualresearch, it becomes clear that the spin will simply just not wash.

The Trinity Church subscribes to Black Liberation Theology. I believe that Obama will not leave that Church for one simple and obvious reason. Despite his new found disgust in "some" terminology that Wright employed, Obama must agree with the theology that the church teaches. He is raising his kids in it, and intends to stay with it.

Most of us feel strongly about the Christian churches we attend. If the clergy depart from the theology that we accept in our hearts, we leave them and find a congregation and doctrine that we subscribe to and will make better men and women of us (through the atonement of Jesus Christ) and allow us to help others. If the clergy sticks with the theology we accept in our hearts, we stay with them.

Obama is staying with the Trinity Church and continues to remain close to Wright, despite Wright's disgusting statements...and not statements from one or two sermons alone. No, Reverend Wright is an adrent supporter and preacher of Black Liberation Theology which is at the heart of who he is and what he has said.

This same Black Liberation theology subscribed to by Trinity is clearly what Obama subscribes to. His actions in this regard tell us as much.

He's been going and donating to that particular church for over twenty yerars. As stated, he is raising his kids in it, immersing them...baptising them into it. And Reverend Wright has done the immersing and baptising.

That church has done a lot of good in the black community, helping them to rise socially. But the underlying doctrine must be understood in order to bring into focus the good it does and reconcile it against the hate its preacher also spreads.

That theology can easily be reconciled to its good actions in the black community and the hateful rhetoric is emplys by simply studying it. This is something the most of the main stream media has either not done, or refuses to do, because the underlying doctrine is so repulsive that it should negate any major candidate in any way closely associated with it. Again, Black Liberation Theology is the admitted theology of Reverend Wright and the congregation. It is something that has helped form Obama and his views and it is therefore worthwhile to understand if we intend to consider him for all of our President.

It is not your traditional Christian message in the least.

Wright admits that he preaches his brand of that theology which is based, in part, on the works of one James Hal Cone, the recognized pioneer in the black brand of this theology, and who has been the Charles Augustus Briggs Distinguished Professor of Systematic Theology at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York.

Wright refered to Cone and his "pioneering" efforts in his contentious interveiw with Sean Hannity on Fox News in 2007, HERE.

Cone himself is much written and describes that theology in his book A Black Theology for Liberation, which is one of many books he has written. One notable quote in that book decribing Cone's interpretation of Black Christian Theology that he calls Black Liberation Theology is as follows:

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

That theology accepts a perverted and wrested interpretation of Jesus Christ where it describes him as a poor black man (or man of color) living under oppressive white European rule (the Romans) and that he was as much about social change and bringing down government as he was about spiritual liberation. He therefore meets Cone's (and adherants to this perverted view of our Savior) criteria for a God who supports their black power insurgency against what they describe as the ruling rich white men and women in America.

This interpretation perverts the love of all men, the peace, the forgiveness, and inner focus (spiritual focus) of Christ and His atonement which teaches us that the change His atonement brings about within us, which heals us spiritually, creates a new man fashioned after Christ who teaches by example, love, and long suffering.

Speaking of these qualities, Cone sarcastically states in the book:

"There is no use for a God who loves white oppressors the same as oppressed blacks. We have had too much of white love, the love that tells blacks to turn the other cheek and go the second mile."

As if this love, and Christ's own words regarding it are somehow a construct of the white race to keep people of color down. Disgusting, and really very, very tragic that people are being raised on this hate...because that is exactly what it is...and Cone says so.

"Black hatred is the black man's strong aversion to white society. No black man living in white America can escape it... While it is true that blacks do hate whites, black hatred is not racism. "

Thus Black Liberation Theology changes Christ, the God of peace and love, into a God of their own construction, a God of hate and revenge, who is hell bent on political and social change at any cost and who supports that hate and "revenge" to suit their needs.

This is the message about Obama's "church" (and others like it) that needs to be spread. I do not believe it is at all subscribed to by most blacks in this country, and certainly not by society at large. But it has been hidden, growing...festering, and flying under the radar in these radical churches and because of political correctness it has been heretofore untouchable. But now the cat is out of the bag.

It is shocking, is is disgusting...and it is dangerous.

It is in no way related to, or a derivitve of American foreign policy or society. The fact is America, despite its problems and mistakes, has set more people free (even through a horrific civil war of our own) and and given them individual liberty (and thus individual accountability) and therefore truly assisted more people's on this earth than any other nation on it.

...and there is the rub. Christ teaches that all men are created equal and that they are individsually responsible for their actions with an inate ability to "Come unto Him" and be free. The American constituion, despite changes that required fire and blood to address (and, OBTW, that blood was shed in the civil war principally by white men fighting to to, among other things, preserve the Union and free the blacks), sets down in law the same principles.

This theology, Black Liberation Theology, is a blatant attempt to mix and wrest and perevert Christianity into a construct for the age old battle against individual rights. It is a Marxist ideological, collective, and ultimately tyranical construct committed to destroying individual freedom.

This same type of liberation theology has been used for decades in Latin America to pervert Catholics and goad them into rising into Marxist rebellions in class warfare.

That is what this is...and it is the version accepted and practised by black radicals in this country and it is intent on changing this country into a socio-marxist state where wealth, opportunity, and position are not earned by individuals, but instead are handed out by the state...and in this case they simply want to be the ones in control of redistributing it all for their purposes and what they call "their" people.

Oh yes Jeff, I did see your last, though I've been away from FR many days now, and am just catching up.

I so agree with you, we have to get the word out on this stealth candidate, who is conducting a stealth campaign, seeking to win in the end by virtue of the power of smoke and mirrors, so that he never ever has to tell us what he actually, personally thinks about any of the issues of vital concern to Americans in a presidential election year.

Anyhoot, so far, my correspondents in such discussions have been the under-30 crowd, and a few Europeans. Both have been eye-opening experiences for me.

With the under-30 crowd, I am simply struck by how little these people seem to know about such subjects as communism, marxism, anarchism, radical social progressivism (in all its forms, from "right to choose" to global warming inclusive, with yet more such innovations yet to come I'm sure). These people seem to be living in an historical vacuum.

And so when a frank, radical Black power/Black separatist candidate emerges as a serious competitor for the Office of President of the United States, in such a way as to "fly under the radar," we understand that the under-30 people are clueless about how to understand such a phenomenon.

As for European sentiment, based on my main source -- a French-born man in his thirties doing business in London -- I am given to understand that there is a huge groundswell of positive sentiment for Obama over there. My friend asked me, Who is this Obama that Europeans typically enthuse about? So I sent him a wonderful essay from The American Thinker, clarifying Obama's ties to unsavory personal and political relationships, from Ayers to Rezko. This was even before the "Reverend" Wright bomblet went off.

Anyhoot, C. has so far left off asking further questions. If the subject comes up again, it will be because he poses the next question. But I'm not holding my breath....

We conservatives definitely have our work cut out for us this year, to speak the truth that we know of our world under God, on behalf of the Constitution of the United States, which together have promulgated the extraordinary success of the American Experiment -- the legacy of our historical God/Constitution social fundaments.

May God continue to bless America!

Thank you Jeff so very much for your eloquent and deeply perceptive essay/post!

Sadly, I suspect this "vacuum" was the intentional result of the heavily liberal-dominated education establishment.

Thank you for the outstanding essay-post, dearest sister in Christ!

I’m disgusted in the media and that includes some at Fox as well, the likes of shepherd smith, and brian kilmeade at fox and friends.

Chris matthews has to be for me the worst in them all.

I would have thought to even the most liberal m inded person that obama is a racist along with his associates and what happens when all this info is put out about him.

His poll numbers have actually hardly moved down.

Now either people are just too thick, agree with this racism and ahtred for the country or have not heard about it yet. I find the latter hard to believe though I don’t watch the MSM all the time

It seems racism towards whites is acceptable to those on the left and to think it is the left what try to label many as raicst yet not one of their own

Disgusted at the media and obama’s voters is not the word, infact there is not one word what can describe my view on those in the MSM and those voters .

I just hope that people wake up before this man gets anywhere near the white house

I would also like to see the media is they actually could do their job for once instead of cheerleading obama ask those who endorse obama a few questions.
Questions such as , after obama’s comments about typicla white people then do you think it would be alright for McCain to say typical black people and have you asked for clarifacation from Obama about that statement?

Now you have endorse obama do you think that after obama has been going to a racist preacher then do you think Obama after 2o years of being there and after not denouncing wrights comments enough then do you actually think the voters who are not partisan will actually believe Obama had neevr heard of these comments and have you actually asked Obama what comments did he hear and why after those comments did he not walk away then instwad of those comments being made public?

Are you happy that Obama has made some racist comments, has refused to salute the flag and has been caught lying about the revs comments plus lying about his liberal paper he filled in when going for the senate?

I came to this country about 14 years ago, legally I might add.

I found straight away after living in a place called Hyde park Boston that racism was rife within the black community, I got white boy this is not your area, white boy F off, white boy what do you want on this bus, etc etc etc

I then get told from my work it was me who has to understand them .
Surprised and amazed was two words which came to mind.

I need some advice. A Washington Post reporter, named Matt Mosk, wants to talk to me about my posts on Free Republic, regarding Obama and his religion? He called my husband at work to contact me.

What did I say? Maybe about Obama sounding like Marjoe.

The poll numbers reflect the democrats I believe and not the general populace. The hard core democrats don't care if he is rascist along the lines of Black Liberation Theology...they agree with it and revel in it. Those folks are either completely mesmerized by the cult of personality or are in abject agreement with him.

However, the conservative democrats (few there be that are left) and independents are strongly turned off by this and revolted by it. The polls also show this. So it may not hurt too much in the primaries (although in PA and IN it may hurt him), it is going to hurt him hard in the general election.

...and well it sjhould becuiase Obama and his core beliefs are simply, and IMHO, wholly, un-American.

Talk to him...refer to his Black Liberation Theology and Wright's protoge, Cone. Refer to those quotes by Cone which clearly have guided Wright, and then Wright's quotes which clearly are reflected in both Michele's and Obama's words and stances on issues

Then make sure that the reporter understands that Obama in his own book admits that the theology taught at Trinity is what he said attracted him...and that is, and has been, the same Black Liberation Theology.

I did talk to him. He really wanted to talk about early posts that I made about Obama’s Muslim background. He asked me how I knew about it and where I got the information. I told him that I heard Obama speak at the Democrat convention and was impressed at first, but then I heard something in his manner that made me uncomfortable, he reminded me of Marjoe. I had to explain that, he didn’t know who Marjoe was.

I told him that Rev Wright was quoted in an article in the International Herald Tribune, saying that he taught Obama crowd control techniques and that Obama took tapes of Wright’s sermons back to Harvard with him to practice Wright’s style. He asked me if I thought that Obama’s muslim roots were important. I told him that I thought that his relationship to the Rev Wright was more important and that the Rev Wright studied Islam at divinity school, not Christianity.

What I wished that I had told him was that Wright explained in the article that he told Barack that he would be more successful if he joined a church and that his church was a good place for former gang members and apostate Muslims. Obama’s religion is his politics. They are one and the same, and both equally devoid of substance.

Well, I will say this...fair or not...in this time of war I do not care to be fair as regards such issues.

If we as a people, despite and on top of the many marxists isues and stances that Obama takes, I say, if we as a people are foolish enough to elect a person as our President in a time of war against radical, Jihad Islam, who's birth father was a Muslim, whoes later step-father was a fundamental Muslim who sent him to a muslim school, who in 2006 traveled to and openly supported a fundamental Muslim candiate in Kenya, and who is wndorsed in this country by the NAtion of Islam, if we as a people, in this time of war, or foolish enough to take that risk...then we are foolish indeed.

Can you imagine in World War II, a person announcing a candidacy for President running against FDR named Adolf Reich, who had a similar background and ties to the German NAzi party, or their sympathisers?

Just something to think about.

Even without that issue, with his ties to Black Liberation Theoloy, the New Black Panthers, the Weathermen Underground, Rezko, and, as I said, his wholly socialist and marxist background, the guy is an absolute disaster waiting to happen.

Obama scares the heck out of me, he scared me the first time that I ever heard him speak. I have actually had nightmares about Obama winning the presidency. I’m not kidding.

The machine behind Obama is huge and very powerful. I feel that this writer was interested in marginalizing the people who are worried about the Muslim aspect, and I do feel that the Muslim connection is dangerous, it is not the heart of the problem with Obama. It only illustrates how dishonest Obama has been about who he is.

you are not the only one
The man is a raicst and clearly has surrounded himself with anti americans and racists yet
after Obama.s racist or bigoted statements like typical white people(why has he not be asked to clarify this by the joke media) after his white greedy folks comment
after his wifes racist writings asking blacks to come together and fight whites
after his rev 20 years association
after the slumlandlord deals
after being caught lying about coming over here or lying about selma AL and so many lies
after not saluting the flag and refusing to do so
after not wanting to wear the American PIn

after all this and more why has the media refused to say the word racist concerning obama, his wife and wrigh

why has his poll niumbers hardly been touched

I can only think people have been lied to not just by Obama but by the media like chris matthews even at Fox like brian kilmeade(joke of a person) and shepherd smith(like geraldo a joke of a reporter who flames stories out of porportion

The media are going to ruin this country

not one reporter has said the word racist or racism yet if a white man going for poffice had said typical black people he’d have bene hounded out of office unlike obama who has not been asked about those statements along with what comments did you hear

Maybe soon we will have a racist anti American man in office and he might get there because of two reasons
the publics ignorance
the media who have not been doing their job

either way it is disgusting that this arrogant obama has lied through his teeth and not had one hard question being asked to him or even asked for clarifaction

this man can kill someone in braid daylight, go to a black panther parade, beat an old granny up and still get away with it because two days later he will give another sppech and the likes of chris ,matthews will just swoon over him and then make damage control and excuses for obama

it is disgusting and in my eyes anyone I mean anyone including those who are not backing him like the senators are just as racist and anti American

I would like to see these senators asked now you have endoresed him then do you agree with his comments baout typical white people, what do you think he means by that, do you agree his statements about white folks greed, etc etc

Am I shcoked and amazed that this man clearly a racist and hates this country has got this far

Yes I am

am I disgusted with how the media have not been asking questions and are supporting him blatently , Yes I am

He might have fooled many Americans but not all of us are fooled just like when Hitler could give great speeches and get elected by the ignorance of the media and the public

I’ve been doing some reading on Black Liberation Theology, spurred by a comment that Liberation theology opposes militarism. This would seem to make Barack Obama unacceptable as a candidate for Commander in Chief.

Much of the writing in regard to this philosophy is very difficult to understand on first reading. It is not light reading. The problem this creates is how to get the general public to understand the danger this philosophy poses. It reminds me of when as a freshman in college, I asked our minister if he agreed with Paul Tillich and if so why did he preach the fundamentalist message that I was hearing in the services.

How do we get this discussion going?

Them saying that Liberation Theology, including Black Libertion Theology, is opposed to militarism is like saying Hitler was opposed to persecution.

The whole point of the initial liberation theology, upon which Black Libertion Theology is based, was to form a religious backdrop and color for ideological, marxist, statist revolutions in Central and South America. It played on the tens of millions of Catholics who were poor and gave them what the revolutionaries felt was as much as they needed of religion...while formenting a marxist, class warfare ideology based upon it.

Radical black revolutionaries are now trying to make that work here, using the liberal, far left elite and inner city congregations in the same manner.

...and you should be disgusted and disquieted. But all is not lost.

We have talk radio and they are getting the word out. We have the internet and forums like this and that is getting the word out. We have email lists and can start email chains...pointing to places like the site referenced in this thread, or this thread itself.

We also have our phones and word of mouth.

If enough of us keep getting the word out, we can make a difference despite the media and the DNC. This is exactly what so many of us did when the congress with the abetting press tried to ruch the immigration/amnesty through. We did it to stop the false flag raising memorial at ground zero after 911...we did it to turn the tide at Klamath Falls before 911.

We can stop this too.

As I read up on Liberation Theology and read between the lines of Rev Wrights words as well as comments that Obama has made in his speeches. I have come to the conclusion that Wright recognized the political potential of Obama before Obama saw it, himself. Wright, in this article, Barack Obama’s search for faith cannot resist taking some of the credit for making Obama what he is today. I have to believe that he is telling the truth and when put together with Obama’s own words about how he came to join Wright’s church and become a Christian, it’s obvious that Obama is not talking about the kind of Christianity that we know.

In the article, Wright says that he told Obama that his church was a perfect place for reformed gang bangers and apostate Muslims. This is because they don’t have acknowledge any guilt or sin within themselves, there is no talk of after life in Wright’s church, or at least in the writings on Liberation Theology. It’s all about rejecting authority and living your life to benefit the cause of removing the shackles of oppressed people around the world.

He may - of course, it won't seem to come from him.But he is owned - more like programed - a polished, programmed puppet.

The 'Quiet Riots" will, I fear, happen, sooner or later. And if he got to the WH, it wouldn't be too long before reparations would be on the table, demanded, and all 'he*l will break loose.

Obama is only the figurehead. The "Liberation" has been simmering, building up steam, for decades. They can smell success. They won't let go of it easily.

I see Dean is urging the Super Delegates to select a candidate soon. I thought the idea of Super D's was to decide at the Convention, had a candidate not yet secured the number of delegates for nomination??? But then, the dems move their rules around like cheating checker players...
